CPU-Z not showing overclock

Newbie to OC'ing here. I have:

GA-965-9-DS4 mobo F12 (latest BIOS)
E6600
2 x Geil PC6400 1GB
2 x Geil PC5300 1GB (according to CPU-Z - I thought I had 4 x PC6400!)
Vista x64

I have disabled EIST and CIE. My OC is showing in BIOS as 3.00 GHz but in CPU-Z it is still showing stock at 2400 MHz with no raise in temps. Multiplier is x9, FSB is 333 and divider is 2.0. Timings are 5-5-5-15.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you save your new settings when leaving the BIOS? (I'm sure you did but i still have to ask).

Have you just flashed the BIOS to run the overclock? If you did try resetting the CMOS and then load optimized - defaults save and exit.

Then enter the BIOS again and set your initial starting clock with your other manual settings - save and exit.

Boot into windows run CPU-z and hope for the best.

flashed a while ago. I've reset cmos by loading optimised. I exited bios by "save and exit" ... I'm really stumped on this; it's got to be something simple I'm missing.

Try running the divider at 1:1 (667) and see what you get in CPU-z - this will run the memory at 5300 frequency and hpefully your clock wont be dropped.

2.0 should be 667Mhz at 333 anyway - it should also read that in the BIOS?

Try pulling out the sticks of memory and inserting just the PC6400 - and see what happens.

I've reset cmos by loading optimised.

I've also just logged this.

I mean clear the cmos (as in remove the jumper or battery) and then on reboot load optimized defaults - save and exit.

Then enter the BIOS again and set you overclock - save and exit.

Run CPU-z.

I would still run the sngle stick of 6400 when you do this and then add it back if you have some sucess.

EDIT: Read post #10 first.

Additional:

I've just logged the 'Newbie to overclocking' in your opening too...

What's your CPU voltage set at and what other setting have you changed - please list all of them.

EDIT x 2: You may want to google 'clocking GA-965P-DS4' before you post back and get familiar with the topic/BIOS as you may be overlooking something fairly obvious which i've forgotten to ask (which isn't beyond the realms of possibilty as i'm on my 5th beer.)

Thanks mate, that worked. All 4 Ram back in and working now at 3000Mhz.

My beers must have been stronger than yours ;)
