CPU Z reading memory wrong?

Hi Hitman

I'm having the same issue but with different RAM http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17955129

I am suspecting it is the RAM as I have tried each of my 6 modules on their own (All should be idential as it says so on the labels). On CPU-Z Memory SPD Tab it says that 2 modules are lower speeds that the rest. I am waiting for feedback from the CPU-Z forum and from my other post I created here on OC.

be interested to know your outcome

You have to MANUALLY set the timings in the BIOS to match your ram. It won't run at the advertised speeds on its own.
Also, you have shown the SPD tab and not the MEMORY tab which will actually show the speed your memory is currently running at.

It is set manually. I just want to know why 2 modules show up differently from the other 4 when there ment to be the same. Why does it show 2 of the modules as different speeds from the rest if inserted individually one at a time?

The SPD screen shows the pre-programmed specs in the SPD chip on each module. Most likely two are either programmed incorrectly or it has changed between manufacturing runs. If manually set and working ok I wouldn't worry.

Thank's for your guidence. Apparently OCZ have a utility to correct RAM SPD (OCZ SPD-Z) and it doesn't void warrently. I just joined their forum to find out more detail. Will post what I find.

Cob was spot on

Below is the reply I got from OCZ:

Hello Wayne,

SPD-z does not support DDR3 or the X58 chipset.

The different SPD will have 0 effect when you set the proper timings in the bios. SPD is only read by the board at boot when things are set to "Auto" or the CMOS has been cleared.

I can RMA the 2 sticks if you like, but there is no way for you to fix this without sending in the ram.

What CPU-Z displays doesn't matter. If it's set in the bios and its working fine then don't worry. I think some DDR2 modules are supported with SPD-Z so unlike me you might be able to still change the info.
