Hello,

Not really a medical thread and not after advice. Does anyone else get crippling cramp in their legs during the night will usually last about 30 seconds and hurts like a mofo.

I've had this on so many occasions. The worst thing about it is that you can't move or the pain gets worse. I've fallen out of my bed on a few occasions trying to 'kick out' a cramp.

Ivan Crampo.

Best thing you can do is grab your foot and pull it up towards your knee and hold it there til it goes. Very simple & effective. It also stopped happening soon after using that method, although I'm unsure it's related.

Yeah, used to have them, though haven't had them in a very long time.

Think it was just growing pains.

OP - whats your puberty complete percentage?

I've had this in my thigh the other day, which was weird because usually I only get it in my calf muscle. It totally crippled me, and walking afterwards when the thigh was sore and swollen was fun. I think it was one of the few times I squealed like a girl. :p

'tis bad when it happens!

Does anyone else suffer from jumping in bed as well, now that's bizarre. I dreamt I was playing golf last night and I swung through on my drive and I felt my body jump off the mattress, no idea where my drive went. :D

I normally get it on my calfs, I woke up one night with stabbing pains in the back of my legs and it's probably the worst pain I've ever experienced.

I have to ask, what exactly is a cramp? Some of the descriptions make it sound a bit like "pins and needles", is it the same? If not, I can honestly say I've never had cramp ever in any situation! Pins and needles yes, it's just because the way you are sitting/lying is putting pressure on a nerve.

It's a muscle spasm. Not nice. "It's caused by a prolonged tightening of that muscle, leading to it being shortened"
