Crap 295x2 performance

Single GPU vs Multiple GPU's, the single is going to be more consistent in more games if poor SLI/Crossfire support.

IMO you should have kept the Black and the 295x2 and even more so Titan Z are just crazy priced for performance.

But it at least lets us know if the issue is merely game related.

+1

Running a bench like 3dmark11 can tell a lot about the complete system and depending on where the PC does not so well can pinpoint a problem with the CPU, GPUs, RAM etc.

OP can you download and run the free version of 3dmark11 and post the results link.

If you are using Mantle on BF4 @4K this could be one of the problems as it is total garbage at that resolution and just eats up VRAM and throttles performance. It is the same story on Thief as well @4K, in both cases DX11 will give a smoother gaming experience with better minimums.

D3 does not like crossfire. Running D3 on my 7990 causes some odd ripples.

Crossfire disabled it is perfectly fine.

Even a quarter of the 295x2's power should surely destroy D3 anyway and should never "chug" along. If it does it is more than likely the game at fault!

Remember this is at 4K res. Thats a LOT of pixels! ;)

Do you have GPU-Z?

A couple of quick checks might be to make sure the slot is correctly running at 16x and that the X2 is clocking up from 2D to 3D clocks when you enter a game.

If either aren't working properly performance is going to suck.

Under bus interface it should say PCI-E 2.0 or 3.0 x16 @ x16.

Then under the sensors tab, if you run a game with GPU-Z in the background, you should be able to see the CPU/Memory clock up and down when you enter a game on the little red graph.

yep its getting used.......still poor fps :(

im absolutely bemused by this, cant think of anything that would be causing such bad performance
