Glad you managed to rule out components by swapping parts.
What board you looking at for round 2 ?
Probably one of the Gigabyte boards you recommended
I highly recommend the 990fxa ud3 rev 4.

Here's a really good review showing the potential of the board with an fx9590 and overclocking it, and explaining the vrm phase section.

Good choice (and interesting review, I had not seen it before) make sure it is rev. 4 though.
I noticed in the other thread that you were buying additional fans, would be useful as airflow can make a huge difference.
good luck, andy.
If they're selling a rev3 then politely tell the seller to.put it in their nearest bin.
The rev4 was gigabytes quiet fix without admitting the rev3 was broken.
Hope I'm wrong but I suspect the problem is actually the CPU due to the package temps being completely out of whack.
Hopefully all goes well for you and the rma goes easily. Good luck.
Actually looking at your latest screenshot, I think there's definitely some problem with the cooling, as there's no way the temp of the CPU should be that high when in bios.
Great well done, I'm glad you've managed to find the problem as it was pretty stressful for you. From what can be seen in that last screenshot using p95 you're peaking at 1.45v and package temps are excellent at 48c, but I assume you haven't any additional airflow over the socket area as the socket temps are high at 69c.However at least it's not the other way round which did on the other board indicate a problem.
Happy tweaking and enjoy.
Good to hear it is sorted for you. Thanks, yeah was made easier but taking it to my friend's place an testing parts in other systems.
No additional airflow yet, will address that within the next month.
Time to RMA now
Thanks for all the help
Good to hear it is sorted for you.
Had I been in your position myself, I'd probably be bold by now having pulled all my hair out
Was this the board from the Bolton guys? Might be a struggle on the RMA front, particularly if it's just the FX-9s which it struggles with (they are officially supported, though)
I got it from OCUK.
well you have 28 days from receipt of order to do an RMA, today is the 28th day and it's pretty much been proven something is wrong with the board.
With OCUk you should be fine, point them toward this thread. I was mixing your thread up with someone else (who did get their board from the Bolton lot).
