YoYo craze must have been a good 6-7 years ago aswell now.

it was 16+ years ago that , well it was for me, Remember the Coca Cola yoyo's "russell spinners" still have mine and bought one off ebay.... just to get replacement string.

these things caused me grief :(

Cool thread, yeah kids just don't know what they are missing these days. I guess mobile ring tones and wallpapers are their craze now.

Some I remember:

BMX
Garbage Pail Kids
Coca-Cola spinners
Top Trumps
Muscles (weird pink plastic wrestlers)
Rubicks Magic
Keyrings that had loads of sounds built in like machine gun, grenade and siren etc.
Super Soakers
Battle Cards
POGS / Tazos

Oh and just remembered, no idea what they were called but it was basically a bit of metal like a tape measure covered in material, you would unroll it and it would go flat then you would throw it at your arm and it would snap round like a bracelet.

We're Islam-crazy at the moment. Immigrant crazy. Diana crazy. Hoodie crazy. So on, so forth....

So what you mean to say is the new "Craze" is getting wound up by whatever the media tells us to worry about.

It's not a good craze at all.

More people need to get themselfs a hula hoop or a YoYo and stopped reading the tabloids.

In some ways its the media, but remember that the media are feeding off of public attitudes.

I'd agree that using a Yo-Yo is generally more fun than reading the Daily Mirror though.

I'm generally a champion at all crazes,

well... in primary school i was the best at POGS by a LONGSHOT... then secondary school, I dominated at Yoyos...i was the only one in school that could do Split the Atom anyway!

Now i've just discovered the joy of Texas Holdem poker so I expect to be in the world series next year!

Yeah it's a aicious circle, stories with shock factor sell papers and people believe what they read and change their attitudes to match. Then there is also confort in reading or hearing a story that reflects your own view so it kind of gets addictive reading what you already believe.

I'd agree that using a Yo-Yo is generally more fun than reading the Daily Mirror though.
6.3 times more enjoyable the latest research has shown
