Crazy fires in Los Angeles

Wonder if Hollywood will just completely ditch and move elsewhere?
Not a lot gets filmed in CA anymore, but what you’re suggesting is a bit like suggesting the whole of the city of London finance centres just pack up and leave. All the history, power base of studios etc are all there. (And enjoy it there)

I have family in LA (who are for the moment safe and out of the way), but my workplace head office is there and in a worrying position, (already had power cuts etc) and lots of colleagues all over different suburbs are all affected and can see the fires. It’s pretty scary.

50-100mph winds are insane, especially with fire. We had 50mph here in London the other week and that felt like our roof was going to come off. And we have properly built houses unlike the US :p

Ironically bbc report, partially heard, said rain before xmas had contributed to extent of problem now - whether that was atypical growth of shrub ?

what bbc report said, for contrarian contrbn of rain

California has experienced a decades-long drought that ended just two years ago. The resulting wet conditions since then have seen the rapid growth of shrubs and trees, the perfect fuel for fires.

However last summer was very hot and was followed by dry autumn and winter season - downtown Los Angeles has only received 0.16 inches of rain since October, more than 4 inches below average.

Researchers believe that a warming world is increasing the conditions that are conducive to wildland fire, including low relative humidity.

looking at the front pages of the newspapers this am - the black humor of the LA fires adjacent to financial outlook/bonds etc. report courtesy of Reeves&co wasn't lost

What profits the government is doing the management.

All you need to do is allow small fires, and big fires will not be possible, this is how humans have managed this sort of thing for thousands of years.
Well obviously the point of government is to do precisely this sort of preventative maintenance but subsidies for corporations don't pay themselves. Also doesn't help that California has a bunch of wacky policies that seem to be mostly cosmetic in nature.

Cutting the LAFD budget by $17 million a few months ago might be a factor as well as the fire hydrants running dry instantly.

California really is the epitome of voting for clowns for decades and being surprised that your state is a circus.
Too bad the other option are also clowns with a different hat.

Only because it benefits them in gaining power, as soon as it happens they'll do virtually the same thing from a different angle like the Texas energy industry, Florida's insurance fraud or Michigan with it's definitely not lead-poisoned water.

Mind it's ultimately the voters fault for see-sawing between self-serving morons.

This situation is awful. With the water issues they've now run into, geniunely what are their options? Could it just keep spreading till the majority of LA is razed to the ground?
