Crazy jump in day meter reading all of a sudden?!

Interesting, apparently the current rate (the smaller 1 or 2) should flash to indicate which rate is presently being applied. I'm assuming the two totals are displayed one after the other automatically as there's no user button to scroll through the display yourself?

Automatically and yes the current does flash however it doesn't seem to matter with the figure that is counted :(

Meter readings so far...do not compute :/

Those really dont make any sense at all plus your usage is crazy low. The meter is a D06D so its 13 years old but the certs on these last for about 20 years in general and its not a old meter as such. Get in touch with your supplier and tell them its faulty and provide these reads and get it changed.

It most likely has transposed reads but seems the timeswitch might be borked too

Atm we don't actually have anything really running. Just a small fridge freezer and a couple of wall vents that dont work properly...

I don't even have the water heater most of the time since it's only needed for dishes. We have led bulbs on a few hours of the day, low power shower 5/10 minutes each and the computer which is not really used most of the day.

Our energy usage should be extremely low, we're not frugal as such but we're not home as much. When I cook I normally do meals that don't require long cooking times, normally a sear on each side and let rest.

The flat we were at before we spent a max of 20 quid every 3 weeks on elec via pay meter. we're just never home enough to generate a big bill lol

I defiantly think you're right BTW, it's not correct and the timings aren't right. Can't go from nearly all night to nearly all day at a flick of a switch and even at 13 units a day like today wich included far more use then normal it would not equal the usage of day alone.

I work for EDF installing meters and diagnosing this sort of issue, At a guess I would say your time switch (the bit that clicks in rate 2) is stuck, secondly are your sure your on eco7 tariff and not eco20:20 or eco10? The latter two have day time off peak times as well as the 7hrs over night designed as heating/water boost timers.

Yeah defiantly on their economy 7 standard tariff. They've assigned a case manager or something who will organise a new meter. I was told not to pay the bill by them and they will sort it out. Hopefully all being well they'll understand I haven't had any storage heaters on this quarter and our usage is low.

My smart plugs are pretty cool as well, shows computer using 60w most of the time for general use age and used less then 1kwh in 4 days on it. I know the figure currently is at least double because day time keeps going up night and day and low rate is going up only in morning/evening

@AhhBisto - Can I ask which smart plugs you have, how you monitor them and what is the resolution of their readings? I'd like a smart plug or two with a higher resolution than my smart meters display (every 15 minutes). Every minute or less would be ideal, with the ability to read history for the last week.

These are the ones I got https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07D7C74RQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 reviews are not perfect but device seems to work fine. Switches on and off ery quickly responds to changes fairly quickly aswell.
