If she identifies as a fruitcake that's her gender choice and we have to respect that.

Well that really depends where the fruitcake is from. In German and English, a fruitcake is gender neutral. But in France, fruitcakes are masculine and in Italy they have always been considered feminine. Really, you're on dangerous ground ascribing a specific gender to fruitcakes.
