Cream tea

For me, its all about how much cream you want.

If like me you like a nice fat dollop of cream, then it has to be jam first and then cream on top.

Sod all this Devon/Cornwall rubbish, just get it in you :D

Battered and deep fried?
Or is that not north enough.

Enough cream to escape everywhere and make a mess.

We're not quite northern enough to batter and deep fry everything - though I do live in southern Manchester so maybe my northern counterparts wouldn't approve of my namby-pamby non-heart-attack-inducing-food ways.

I fear that the link below might be our equivalent. God help us.

Being awkward I like it the other way round - cream first, then jam!

Thats the only way that makes sense. Proper clotted cream will be far to thick to dollop on jam which acts as a lubricant. You have to s****e the clotted cream over the scone, then it is easy to dollop some jam on top.

You could add jam to half the scone and cream on the other and SQUISH 'EM TOGETHER! :D

Or... cut it half and simply add cream and jam in equal amounts on each half of each side. :D

I put jam on first then cream, but I accidentally put the jam on the top half of the scone and cream on the bottom half, so ate it upside down :p

I went for scones and tea the other day. Home made scones, jam and clotted cream served with a pot of Assam...AMAZING! :D

Spot on! Had one yesterday in Wells; scone, thin layer of jam, then a dollop on clotted cream. If I'd been at home, it would have been a bigger dollop of cream and a decent cup of tea too.

Some scones made by my gf at the weekend.

Sultana, cherry and plain.

Had a cream tea in Bath on the weekend with some friends.

2 scones cut in half, jam first then cream :D and a nice pot of tea (3 cups). An incredibly nice and civilised way to spend some of my afternoon in good company.

had my first ever devon cream tea over the weekend.

quick question for people tho, i've never come across it before, but the friend i was with expected a pot of boiled water along with the teapot(with tea bag in), is that usually the norm when served tea in a pot ?
