Hi all,

Later this year, i'll be aiming to create a full length (1 - 1.5 hour) movie using Premiere Pro.
I've created 10 minute ones before, and all is good, despite the long render times.

Is there anything I should be looking to do though, to improve stability of the program on such a big project? Or anything I can do about render times? Is it possible to do smaller segments, and then join them together?

Any advice would be appreciated

In Premiere you can create "sequences" inside projects, so you could isolate parts/chapters/scenes using those. That could help you keep the timeline down to a more managable size.

For stability, convert all of your footage away from, CPU hungry, AVCHD/AVCCAM or whatever you camera takes.

The sequences might also be a help when it comes to rendering sections, but in the end you are still going to have to render out the whole movie, and whether you do that in parts or as one big chunk, it's gonna take the same amount of time! The only advantage in doing it in parts is that you might want to go back an re-edit something, and having a sequence will make doing that an easier organisational process!

Sequences seem to be the answer I was looking for - many thanks for that, will have a good read.
I realise the final render will be huge, but handy if I can split it down into sections for editing and first round rendering

Thank you :)

Glad to be a help... I've not been using Premiere Pro for long though. Downloaded the CS5 trial and just been playing with it for the last 3 days! :p

There could well be a better solution in there somewhere!
