Creating an image of an SSD

Hi All

What is your recommended imaging software for creating a backup of an SSD?

I am using an aged version of Acronis on my other PC with a HD but don't think SSDs were invented when that version came out!

I'm not worried about data backup - just creating an image of my boot drive (Win 7 64bit) to restore my pc if things go wrong.

Ideally would also like to be able to restore to a new SSD should my current one fail (sorry don't know if thats as simple as it is with a HD, so thought I should check).

Thanks

I use the image function in windows 7 pro. Or you could use Macrium Reflect Free version. Very very good and will create images for you for easy restoration

Acronis True Image 2012 gets my vote. Completely SSD friendly now. Backup/restore of OS drive is part of my general backup strategy (some of my data goes back 15+ years!). Restoring from my OS disk backup saved my bacon a couple of weeks back, as I picked up a rather nasty trojan (drive by infection). The Acronis user forum is also pretty good, should you need a helping hand.

Thanks all - will look at those options.

I like the sound macrium reflect - didn't realise they had a free version :)

I know from use of an earlier version that Acronis is good (though 2011 seems to have issues) but am reluctant to pay much as I only ever use a little of the functionality i.e. imaging only. (I only have a tiny volume of actual data that is significant)

Funnily enough I have created an image with windows but haven't tried a restore yet. Have had to use 3rd party sw for so long, I can't wrap my head round the fact that MS have this built in and may be ok lol.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
