Hi there,

I just got this sound card this morning and it's been running fine so far on Vista x64.

The only problem i have is i can't seem to get my mic to work. My headset is plugged into the correct ports, but when i go to the sound options in the control panel, it says it's not plugged in.

Anyone got any idea on how to get it working?.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

edit: nevermind, i was looking around google and it seems these cards have mic problems and usually don't work. I guess the card is going back for a refund, good sound card, but no point in using it if i can't use my mic.

I have the same card and the same prob well i say prob it is not a big one i just got a USB headset with a mic np's at all now. I would say that there is not much point in getting a refund because there is not a better card out that is better for gaming.:) + all XFi's have mic probs of some kind.

Oh... isn't this the unplug it.. and put the mic back in thing? Prob something to do with the autosensing screwing up... can you turn that off?

I've tried everything and the mic just won't seem to be recognized in the sound control panel. After looking through google it seems it's a known problem with this card and no one knows why.

I actually changed to the Titanium Fatal1ty from an Auzentech Prelude, the prelude also has mic problems and they just haven't fully fixed it yet. On my prelude the mic works right away, but still has it's problems. I thought maybe the new sound cards would be fine, but i guess i was wrong. :p

I've just decided to go back to my prelude since it is an awesome sound card and has worked great on Vista x64. I guess i can just use a USB mic, which is not a problem.

Thanks guys for your help.

From the brief time you had them both, any comments on Prelude vs Titanium in terms of sound quality. What were you using to listen?

I usually use my sennheiser headphones to listen to music, games, or films, i also have logitech 2.1 speakers. I can't really say i noticed any difference with the Titanium, probably just the same as the prelude, but both cards are very good.

The built quality of the prelude is much better than any creative card i've seen.

Have you selected 'Game mode' If so, go to settings at bottom of the programme and click on Flexjack tab at top, then select Microphone.

Thats all I had to do.

HTH

Well i've already sent it back for a refund. I don't really know why i bought it in the first place since the mic isn't really a big problem.

I'm happy to use a USB mic for the moment.

Thanks anyway. :)

Hi I signed up to these forums to see if anyone could shed some light on a similar problem I’m having with the break out box on my Creative X-Fi Titanium - Fatal1ty Champion Series….
The actual sound card works perfectly, but the I/O Drive only half works. I can change the volume from the front when using the audio ports to the rear, but when I plug my headset into the front I get nothing except a little noise when I connect the headphone jack. There should be some lights that come on at the front but there is nothing.

I will admit I am a bit of a soundcard newbie, as I have always relied on USB headsets for my gaming experience prior to this. Having said that it should be quite simple and straight forward, which it was except for this damn I/O drive.

There was cruddy little sound card that came with the mobo which I uninstalled along with the soundmax driver prior to the installation of my new one. I have gone through the software, but perhaps I have missed something?

Here are my pc specs if they will help:

Processor: E6850 @ 3.00GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Hard Drive: 150gb WD RaptorX / 320gb Mass storage
Video Card: EVGA GeForce 280GTX SC
Sound Card: x-Fi Titanium PCIe Fatal1ty
Headphones: sennheiser PC350
Motherboard: Asus Striker Extreme 680i
Operating System: Windows XP Professional

I am now regretting shelling out the extra £40 bucks for this gimmick…hopefully someone may be able to help?

Do you have the extra power cable plugged into the i/o expansion?

The card came with two cables.
Analogue and Digital, which are connected to both the card and the I/O drive.
There’s no other connections on the I/O drive and there were no other cables that came with it.

I have connected it to the middle PCie slot which I think is either x8 or x16. I thought it a bit odd that there was no power cable. I guess it’s meant to draw power through the PCie.

I forgot to mention that I have a 850w PSU, so there shouldn’t be any issues with power levels.

I meant if it's an internal drive (i.e. 5 1/4 drive bay) then it may require a power cable to be plugged in like the fatal1ty fps bay I used to have.

Oh sorry.
It is a 5 1/4 drive bay like the fps but way less functionality and from what I can see there are no connections for power anywhere on the bay or the actual card itself.
I’m stumped…..

There is no power cable for this version, just the 2 cables that connect to the sound card.

I had a different problem with mine in that I couldn't install the drivers for some reason. The lights on the front module don't work until the drivers are properly installed, so maybe try reinstalling them?

To get mine to work I used the beta driver: http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=11#type_11

Ok thanks I’ll try that tonight.

Was it a clean install you did or did you just update?

If I remember correctly... when you click the setup.exe in the beta driver there is an option to completely remove existing creative drivers.

p00n have you turned off your onboard sound in bios.
and also the anologue and digital cables that go from soundcard to baydrive unit make sure you give them and good push onto pins on soundcard and baydrive.
I put the cables on with the soundcard out.
Hope this helps
