Credit card problem - help!

They told me that no error has been made by my bank or on their part as it is their procedure to commence a DD of an amount specified by their statement

As I see it the statement should have read £0 as the balance was paid off two weeks before the necessary date?

when did you get the statement before of after you paid?

I got the statement afterwards. I assumed it was an automated statement. I suppose that is where my error was, I should have contacted them to make sure they knew I had covered the balance.

I'll see if there is anything they can do about recovering the bank charges, thanks for the info

So if you paid it before you got the statement it should be a credit, you do have too argue your case.

When they mess up the DD i make money of both sides, i wait a while ask them to post me my statment then i send the statement to the company asking them to pay the charges and then i call my bank to complain about the charges i then get a refund, hence make nice £35.

Such a fine, upstanding and honest individual. First to complain if you think you're hard done by but happy to defraud companies...

Its no defraud companies, i see it as payment for my time, for a mistake they made. Why should i do it for free they would charge.

the bank or credit company can cancel the DD if given suitable time, 2 weeks is suitable.

Only if they know in time. In this case, the OP made a mistake, did not realise it, and came a cropper. This is in no way the banks fault, or something that the bank could have predicted.

Well not my problem is it, this is the typical responce from others i'll use it as mine.

Typically selfish, lack of responsibility, it doesn't matter if my demands impact others attitude. You'd make a good labour voter with thought processes like that.

no but the credit card company had 2 weeks to alter it.

Why would they? They communicated the process clearly to the customer. The customer misinterpreted the clear instructions.

For all the company knows, he might have paid off the grand because he had another big CC purchase to make.

It is not the company's responsibility to assume or second guess the behaviour of their customers, only to manage the terms of the contract, it is the personal responsibility of the customer to check the consequences their behaviour could have.
