Crest whitening strips

I've got mine on now, only used 5 days worth but really notice the difference, I did leave one on for a hour and half the other night whilst playing MW2 as I forgot, next day teeth ached a bit, had to 'man up'

They work really well, noticably whiter, I don't smoke or drink tea or coffee but do drink red wine occasionaly, I would imagine them being really really effective on a smoking coffee drnker

Why aren't these products sold in the mainstream shops i.e. Boots, Tesco, etc?

Because they are not FDA approved. Strength is far too strong. That's why you don't get any whitening toothpastes on the market that's actually good.

Don't bother - go to the dentist and get it done for £50 with a polish, it'll last far longer and take out more stains.

No. hydrogen peroxide which is the active ingredient whitens your teeth. Polish solely removes stains from your teeth and you can get similar results if you use an electric toothbrush. However, I do suggest you go for a polish before bleaching.

I've had my teeth done using the Crest Whitening Strips and I have seen fantastic results. People always comment on how white my teeth are. I find it shocking how dentist get away with charging so much, essentially it's just hydrogen peroxide which costs next to nothing!

Dental applied stuff is usually carbamide peroxide (occasionally hydrogen peroxide), and doesn't come cheap, as they have to source from reputable suppliers, not Mr Internet 'look at my shiny badge that says I am safe'. Carbamide peroxide breaks down to hydrogen peroxide and has the same bleaching/whitenign effect by free radical action casuing oxygenation of organic debris and organic materaisl within the substructure of the enamel and dentine.

The strips work remarkably well on certain people.

Word of caution judge your results several weeks after you've finished using them, not when you are finished, initial sideeffects include dehydration of the tooth, which causes whitening, giving a false appearance of a great result immediately, the tooth will rehydrate from saliva over a period of time, and the true colour will be seen.

Results are good from both processes for folks with yellow or brown hue to their teeth, if you have blue or grey hue then it'll take much longer to improve the colour, as would be the case with intrinsic stains, such as tetracycline staing from antibiotics as a child. It'll get there just take longer, better to get proper dental trays fitted and use 22% carbamide peroxide over a period of time.

I bought the Classic ones from here last night; because of this darned thread, I hasten to add. :) Never even crossed my mind before and a few posts in I was in such a tooth whitener frenzy, clicking buy on the first product on the page, (The Classic version.) didn't even realise untill today, that there were the 3D and advanced versions further down. :p
Oh well, have heard they work just as good.

Hmm, I'd like to try these but some of the reviews I've read have me troubled. Is it really that painful if the stuff gets in to contact with skin and gums? How hard is it to avoid that happening?

They seem to genuinely work so I am interested, but could do without any unnecessary pain :p

I ordered some of the Advanced Seal Pro Effects which should be with me in the next day or two. The Supreme have the highest peroxide content (14%) but there are a lot of reports of burning gums with those.

Damn ordered them to an address no one is going to be at for 3 weeks! Argh! :/

Need to wait before I can try them!

They don't hurt if you don't let the strip touch your gum, which is easy to avoid.

But doesn't that make it difficult to cover the parts of your teeth that are closer to the gums? In particular, the bits that rise up slightly in-between teeth? I know, I probably shouldn't worry so much, but I do >.<

right, just ordered some 3d ones from that link ^^

Hoping that there are some people who have already used them to good effect? :)
