Cricket - The Hundred

Mentioned it in the cricket thread, I don't normally go in for the white ball games but The Hundred has really surprised me and I'm really enjoying it. Watched Trent Rockets beat Southern Brave live, last week and I've watched most of the subsequent games on sky. Just watched tonight's game at headingly which was very good, Oval Invincibles winning again and looking the complete package although Banton for
Superchargers was very good also and nearly won it for them.

So yeah, enjoying it.

Yep, close game tonight for the Superchargers vs Invincibles. I thought it was enjoyable.

I tried to watch the first season, but the awful cheap 90s graphics gave me a headache. Has that improved?
The graphics still suck, and aren't intuitive at all. Still takes me a while to figure out if Balls means balls bowled or balls left..... truly awful UX.

All good the tournament thoigh, great seeing all the kids in the crowd enjoying the game. Shame about the junk food sponsors, but hey ho.

Makes the state rugby union in even more sad when you see things like this in other sports.

Bloody daft still having the T20 blast, just run this tournament, it's drawing far more people in than the counties alone were managing.

Went to Lords a couple of weeks ago - good night out (helped that I was in the Pavilion I suppose)

Lots of families/kids there - so The Hundred can only be a good thing for Cricket long term - but so many die-hards just cant see it.

The BBC were using similar style graphics in between shots on the evening Tonight at the Test shows during the Ashes.

I think they’re really intuitive. The two bars at the left and right either grow or shrink depending on whether it’s the first or second session and I find it incredibly easy to glance at the left then the right and work out the game progress at a glance. During the run chase, those two bars shrink per ball/runs showing easily where each team is at. Even wifey can understand exactly what’s going on.

Also. It says ‘balls’ or ‘balls left’, it’s so obvious!

Growing and shrinking bars doesnt help you when you first look at the game in progress....you shouldn't need to wait for animations for it to be clear what's happening.

It clearly does suck because I've watched a fair bit of the hundred and know how cricket works, yet it's still not intuitive

The graphics are clearly terrible.

I turned it on last night and couldn't even see the number of runs scored until the graphic changed. In cricket!

I honestly think we must be watching something different. I think they're great. I can come in and see within a few seconds exactly what's going on.

When the first team bats, you get their runs scored on the left and the number of balls bowled on the right.

When the second team bats, you get their runs needed top left, the number of balls left on the right and the current score bottom left which occasionally switches to the target score and then back again.

In each case you get the batter on strike and the bowler name with their current figures along the bottom of the screen and also the number of wickets down is shown bottom right. The batter off strike is also shown with their figures.

Literally everything you need to know is there.

Another good match last night, still really happy how Sky are making all these free to watch.

The only thing I noticed was at the bottom during the second innings they sometimes show runs required rather than runs scored, other than that I honestly hadn’t noticed the columns changing just thought they were shorter.
