Cricket World Cup thread

Brian Laras final match today being played against England, will be a highly emotional affair as i have to say without a doubt that he has been an absolute pleasure to watch, I remember his record breaking batting displays, dont think we will ever see someone if his ability again...if we do it will be a long time. One of the all time greats Lara has been and one my fave batters as well...cricket wont be the same without him thats for sure..

I can see the Windies being mega fired up for this match, so should be an interesting game..with england wanting to win one more last time for Fletcher and the Windies wanting to give Lara a good send-off.

England ringing the changes for the final match Ian Bell, Monty and Mahmood have been dropped and Stuart Broad, Liam Plunkett and Jamie Dalryimple are in.

Bopara is being moved up to bat at 3 apparently as well.

Gayle absolutely hammering Plunkett and England, already made 45 not out off 22 balls:eek:. Guess hes on rampage mode today...im waiting to see how Lara does batting wise although hes down to number 6 today..so may not see much of him:(.

64/0 so far off 9 overs.

Englands bowlers are that crap even the Windies can paste them! Chris Gayle has been useless all tournament comes up against our rabble and looks like Don Bradman!

It's no wonder we kept playing Saj Mahmood if Plunkett's in this sort of form!

PMSL:p...Vaughan really hasnt a clue has he??, hasnt taken the powerplay...used Flintoff for one over and now takes him off and puts Collingwood the ginger ninja in to bowl :p.

Gayle meanwhile makes his 50 looks simple...

It would be good if WI post a score of around 300 just to see how well England attempt the run chase. Will they learn and attack the powerplay sessions I wonder?

By the sounds of it England are heading for another hiding?

Well WI 105-0 at the moment at a run rate of over 6 an over, so yep.

lol 105 - 0

6runs an over...!

England will be struggling to chase any runs...

They will probably lose a few wickets before 50... then get to 100... then before hitting 120 will lose a couple or so more.. so around 120-6.. at a run rate of 3at best...

thats my prediction.

We will be all out below 240

Hehe well Vaughan seems to be better at bowling..so far 2 overs and hes leaked 2 runs so not bad..perhaps he should become a full time bowler rather than batting??:p

Freaking hell 22 overs gone 123/0...no wickets being taken...thought at least one would have been taken by now:(...i really wanna see Lara bat for the last time :p but i have a feeling he dropped himself down the order because he doesnt want to go out on a low score or his wicket being taken...seeing as he is a bit of a showman and has the ego to go with it as well...

Gayle is playing an unbelievable innings, we're gonna be lucky to keep them below 300 at the moment. Interesting batting lineup today though, with Bell being dropped and Bopara moving upto 3.

Thats a shame :(

Was actually wanting him to make a 50 or something, think he deserves to go out on a better note than that...

Mind i would have only wanted a 50 from Lara if Vaughan got a decent score and Pietersen got a 100 :)

What a stunning return to the team by Liam Plunkett 7 overs for 71 runs  he can join Saj Mahmood in the 'come back when you can actually bowl where you want' camp.

We might as well pack up one day cricket if these are the best bowlers in the country!
