I'm getting this crash 4 or 5 times a day, not sure if its PSU related or not, the PSU is a brand new Corsair HX1000, the CPU a 5800x3d

Im thinking Ill swap the new HX1000 into another build and buy a 1200+PSU for the 4090 rig?

Make that 6 times it just crashed again

Which 4090 model do you have?
Are the power connector's daisy chained to the 4090?
Is your system doing anything intensive when it crashes? (Does it crash while running at idle?)

I would expect it isn't your power supply as that should be plenty for your 4090.

When I had a 6950XT for example I was getting that error showing up and the actual cause of it was Chrome/Brower issues with the driver version(s) available at the time. The card was completely fine when gaming for example.

I think the last question @Chuk_Chuk asks is very important. Is there anything particular you are doing when the crashes happen? If it's during basic desktop tasks where GPU usage won't be spiking to high wattage it would indicate that it's something else.

Also all the usual questions. What card did you replace? Was it a clean install? Completely removed all old drivers especially if AMD previously?

It crashed during a check disc run last time, so it pretty random when it goes....its reporting my windows directory on the wrong drive which is weird, the log files say my windows directory is on F: but its on C: maybe a fresh windows install would be the way to go, thanks for the help

Do you still have the old power supply? Could revert to the old one to test with just don't load up a game if it's insufficient for the 4090. 1000watt supply should be enough and if the issue is appearing carrying out desktop tasks it's probably not the power of the PSU but could have course be faulty.
Other things to try would be to check everything is connected properly since you replaced the PSU, which can be fiddly, and check the GPU/memory etc seated properly. And check see if there's a bios update for the mobo.

Could simply be driver related. I've had the same thing with a 3080 since buying it over 2 years ago but can easily go a while without such an event. Seems to tie in with driver updates I think. I put it down to the driver as it can start happening after a driver update and then later after another driver updated it stops occurring. I've just checked now and not had a crash since 8th Dec, so a whole month. Other times it's occurred a few times in a week, but not usually multiple times per day. For me it's usually watching youtube video's that causes a freeze and the related auto reboot. Gaming is fine, as are general desktop tasks.

'Crash's is a bit generic. What exactly happens? Freeze for 20+secs then restart or an instant reboot, or instant shutdown? ANy blue screen of death? :) or any error displayed in the UI?

Kernel-Power Event 41

Isn't the actual error, just means the PC was switched off unexpectedly. You get this error every time if you do not complete a standard system shutdown if for example you just switched off at the wall or hold the power button.

What type of crash is happening?
System hang/freeze
System shut down
System restart
Happening only while playing games?

That error is PSU hold up time, you need to change PSU, new or not makes no difference. PSU see's a power spike and shuts down, look at PSU hold up time charts. makes a big difference.

I am curious if you ever resolved this as it's a subject that has very little in the way of useful information on the net. Everyone bangs on about the same few things with sound card drivers, power modes etc etc.
For context my system is now a little over 2 years old and I have 12 of these same errors that all manifested in the same way.

They are getting more frequent and started in October of last year
I have in that time added a 4090FE and an HX1000i PSU that replaced a 3090FE and an RM850. I use the Cablemod cable with 3 connectors.
The first couple of instances happened before the switch to the newer parts.
System will just shut down at random even just on desktop a couple of times.
Sometimes the fans are still on.
Today I updated my Chipset drivers and my BIOS to their latest versions.
I have no driver problems or duplicated ones.

System Spec.
Asus X570 Tuff gaming Plus
5950X
4x 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200.
4090FE
2x 980 Pro Nvme
3x 870 Evo Drives
Windows 10 Pro
Power Plans set to performance and all the sleep stuff is off along with fast start.

So as I await my next "41" I have taken the following steps since the last one yesterday:
Update BIOS
Updated Chipset Drivers.
Checked Drivers.
SF /SCANNOW, Check Disc etc.
Checked GPU Cable is seated
Checked PC Power Plug is seated
Ordered the Corsair 12vhpwr Cable which arrives tomorrow.

When that arrives I will go through all the power leads in the PC to check they are all seated correctly.

If I still get it after that I will look at power delivery as I will admit that it is plugged into an extension lead that it shares with the monitor, I will also be installing additional wall outlets so it can have a dedicated plug. I will note though that this PC has always ran this way just fine until last October including over 2 years of the spike happy 3090.

u got them samsung drives that are being thrashed for some reason on its 9xx series of drives?
All of them tested a couple days back and all in tip top condition. 1 980 Pro is my system drive and about a year old. The other 980 pro is a scratch drive which I hammer with huge files constantly . Both have about 11tb written to them. Two of the EVO870s are for Steam games and the final 4tb one is my "D" drive for storage. I create video files, laser scan point clouds and huge panoramas and they are all holding up just fine so I think the issue is overblown. Going fully SSD was the best decision ever as File explorer is almost instant.

...in further news regarding the error 41, having spoken to a well know reseller that shall not be named I was asked if I had tried switching my HX1000i to single rail. Not thinking it could as no switch, I was told that I needed to use iQue and the irritating usbc cable into my M/board. Not wanting that bloatware on my rig, I have ordered an HX1200 coming tomorrow that does have a switch and even more power and shall pair it with the official Corsair 12VHPWR Cable.

I started getting this error last month on a 10 year old 4770k pc that I was using as a print sever in work about 2 weeks later it no longer boots there is an orange BIOS light that suggests there is an error tried to reset the bios and use another power supply that I know works same problem. Reseated the ram all the other cables, tried one stick of ram, disconnected the hard drive. No luck so I just replaced it with another old PC. I will try repasting the thermal paste on the cpu before stripping it for parts.

I know that doesn't help you but I couldn't find much other information about this error.

I had this issue a couple of years ago when I got a 3080, it turned out to be the card heating up the case much more than my old GPU which pushed my ram up a few C making it unstable.
