Hello guys currently running the spec's below. I saw this card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-144-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752 and thought it's a bargain for the 6950 cf power.

My computer is currently a little bit faulty with few artifacts every 2 weeks. Should I just buy the upgrade put it in my system and see what happens or try to sort my computer out first?

Ah dude. Still having artifact problems with that card hey?

Did you manage to test the card in someone elses computer? That's the only sure fire way to find out if its faulty.

However providing you have a capable motherboard and psu i give two thumbs up to 6950 crossfire.

Sort out your PC issues first I say!
Check for the clocks(Core & Mem) and see if the artefacts go away when reduce the core and mem clocks or put back to stock if overclocked.
If you are still getting them even at stock clocks why don't you RMA the GPU? (Unless bought second hand)

I'm still getting the artifacting, and Avathar i've already RMA'd the card overclockers said it wasn't faulty so I guess it must be something else. and LtMatt I haven't tried it in anyone else's pc yet I'll put it in my brothers now, and my motherboard and PSU are listed in my SIG TX 650W Corsair will be good enough. I also found out yesterday LtMatt the computer I bought from Overclockers the ram is set at 1100mhz... I changed it to 1648 like it should be and it seems my computer may be unstable as it BSOD hours later, hasn't done it today though.

Yeah i remember your story, and many threads. :D

Need to get that card checked in a clean pc, as yours sounds in a wee bit of trouble.

With regards to your second problem ill hazzard a guess and say that your BLK may be overclocked, that could cause issues unless you know what youre doing.

Check your bios and make sure BLK is set to 100. Once you've changed that your memory should show up as 1600mhz.

However, if you bought it from ocuk they should have some sort of profile in your bios. Try to load that and it should go back to their stable settings.

They do OCUK but the memory is set to 1100mhz, and I can't test my card in a clean PC it won't fit into my brothers I'm kinda screwed.
BLK to 100?

What do you mean by 'they do ocuk'??

You could maybe hope that an ocuk'er who lives near you may have a pc you could test it in.

Yeah set the BLK to 100 and that should sort out the memory issue and may improve stability. After that you can deal with the overclock.

What is BLK and when I said they do OCUK that is the what the profile is called but on that profile the memory is set to 1100 mhz.

Ah right im with you.

BCLK (Base Clock) - This is the main clock for the Sandy Bridge platform and it runs at 100Mhz.

Sandy Bridge is different in that the base clock (BCLK) is 100MHz, and everything else, including SATA, PCIe, memory and so on are linked to the BLK, and also run at 100MHz, so adjusting the BCLK is possible, but you will find that just a few MHz can result in instability.

You could try loading the ocuk profile, then adjusting the ram speed manually to 1600mhz and then saving and restarting. See if that works?

I think if BCLK is overclocked it will also affect your ram speed which would explain why your ram changed to 1648 when you adjusted it rather than hitting the desired speed of 1600mhz. The BSOD's you mention could be as a result of this.

I made a new profile called "Ben's" - my name xD could get the ram to either 1347 or 1648 seems the 1648 wasn't stable as it BSOD 5 hours later. but it was extremely hot in my room and the computer had been on all day. I'm very disappointed in overclockers I thought i'd be getting 1600mhz ram but that's clearly not the case :(

Right im pretty sure if you go into the bios and find BCLK and change it from 103 or whatever it is to 100 your problem will go away. Go and have a look right now, find the setting save and restart.

Lol I couldn't see anything BCLK i saw PCI-E speed at 101 changed that to 100 as that was close to the number you was speaking of.

Cripes i just realised you have an AMD system. That's what i get for not reading your sig. I assumed you had a sandybridge system.

I think you should ask in the customer services section for help. I'll probably do more harm than good if i carry on. :D

Lol that's no problem :D

Hey you know if you get this sorted it may well resolve the corruption you have been gettting from your HIS 6950. Overclocking the PCI-E freq can cause issues with the display. Ask in the ocuk customer service section.
