Crossfire gpu's

My 6950's only seem to run at 60-70% usage when gaming. Is this normal or should they both be maxed out @ 100% ??. Running a single 6950 it runs @ 100% usage.

In BF3 I'm getting 99% from both cards.

Depends on the game you are playing, also the drivers you use and whether you installed the CAP's

I noticed last night my CF 6950's werre at 70% or so, when playing Dirt 3 on High (4xAA) at 6048x1200, with VSync on. When I knocked it up to Ultra, it jumped to 99-100%.

It's probably just that your cards are more powerful than you need at the resolution and settings you are using to deliver a constant 60fps, if you have Vsync on. Either that or you are CPU limited, which doesn't seem likely looking at your CPU.

I have noticed that if i dont use aa/af the usage is never maxed, also if it's an older title i again notice lower useage.

im running the 2600k (not overclocked) with crossfire 6870's everything is on ultra except i have turned motion blurring off and i saw my fps second increase massively on bf3. i use frapps.

I run at 1080p an everything on ultra running at around 45-80fps. Just seems like they should be running @ 99% all the time seeing as sometimes when im @ 45fps they're only @ like 60%. If i bumped up my cpu abit would it increase they're useage ?. Im using 11.10 and cap4

As stated it depends on the game, and how much the game stresses your cards, for example BF3 on ultra sits my cards at 99% and 98% with over 2500mb vram used. MW3 leaves my cards at about 35% and 28% with 1600mb vram used.

Have you tried a complete driver removal including running driver sweeper then reinstalling CCC and CAP?

I'm stumped then, the only time I don't get 100% usage on both cards at 1080 is when using 11.9 w/cap4.

Have a look around im 99% sure there is an inbuilt tool in BF3 to show performance spikes relating to either CPU or GPU bottlenecks. Could show you where to start looking...
