CryEngine 3

tbh I was expecting pea roast replies, despite searching before I posted lol

I wonder what sort of spec is needed to run it ?

There was a thread last eyar about (i think) ray tracing, real time demo with some obscenely powerful 32 (48?) core xeon rig. Think cryengine3 needs the one UP from that!

If you wait until the end of the video (about 2:30) you'll see this is "CryEngine 3 - For Cinema". ;)

This demo is showing it's possible applications for animated films, not the games industry. :)

I don't care how many good engines these guys make, still waiting for them to make a really enjoyable game using one of them. Far Cry went downhill halfway through and so did Crysis!

The matrix films cgi always irritates me. On the second film when he pulls that pole out of the ground and they can't even get the colour of his clothes correct so he stands out so obviously. It kills me inside.

Looks more impressive to me than that unreal engine thing... ok partly due to better art direction but still, surfaces look more convincing, backgrounds less like static images, etc.
