*** CRYPTO-CURRENCY MINING SYSTEMS: GET DAT $$$$ ***

Just realised that my student accomodation has all inclusive bills. Shame I don't have the time to put a system like this together, and then put the 290X's in my gaming pc after I move:eek:

I'd read the contract again to be certain that means what you think it means as well.

I offer all inclusive for students but this is only up to a certain amount usually more than sufficient for normal use, many landlords do similar.

I think you're completely missing the point of these mining rigs.

I think your completely missing the point of buying a product?

If you walked into a store to buy something and they said "Give us £20 and we'll give you one of the washing powders we have out the back."

They all do the same thing, some smell nicer (personal taste) and some are much cheaper than others and are also on offer.

You are paying for this product, you should want to know what it actually is, who the manufacturer is.

It's a known fact that some products are less reliable than others even though they cost the same amount.

Entirely with you on this one buddy. Everything should be listed with full details of each individual product.

I don't understand how people don't care. It's absolutely no trouble what so ever for OcUK to add in what RAM is used. Unless it's been left out for their own good.

I'm still shocked at the price of this thing to be honest. I've priced up a 3 x R9 290 system for just under £1300.

man hours for building it will be some of the extra cost.

even if the guy is on minimum wage ocuk will ry to make a nice profit margin on the build time seeing as the profit margin of most components is not brilliant

An OcUK rep commented on the Facebook post corresponding to this announcement saying "you could probably get away with 60% fan speed to be honest"
As you probably don't need pointing out, but since you failed to do so I will, that all depends on the card and cooler in question.

I've got two cards at home, same GPU, different clock speeds, different coolers...set to different fan speeds to achieve the same level of cooling.

Thats why im quite suprised these are shipping with bronze and gold PSUs when they have recently got a load of superflower platinum PSU's in!
& they sold out in two days. Since they are exclusive to OcUK restocking is not as easy as buying from a local distributor.
As you may have realised, there is a shortage of high rated PSU's right now which is why I intentionally left the brands out. That way we can use whatever we have in stock. If you buy a 1200W Gold and we have Superflower in stock don't be surprised if you get a Platinum.

So are only multi high end gpu's worth it for mining?

Example I have a rig with a 400w psu on 24/7. Board has dual pci-e slots. Would there be no point me getting 2 slower gpu's and leave it mining?

I'm mainly a NVidia user so I couldn't justify the costs for a whole extra rig with AMD cards in.

I see that we are once again commenting on system markup without taking into account the two year return to base warranty offered with every ocuk system.

nvidia cards are dead slow at mining.

a 7850 pulls in 300-360khash mining litecoins.

a titan probably pulls in 300 for example

What is the best radeon card considering the 7990s are not viable in terms of cost and effectiveness ?

7950s offer best bang for buck but good luck getting them

As long as you don't mind not owning new, 7950's come up quite regularly on the MM for ~£150 (sometimes less, I picked a MSI TFIII up for £140). People are replacing them with R9's for gaming, the R9's seem to pump out too much heat for miners, many are still using 7850's rather than the 7950.

Due to the 'backlash' here I don't think many people realised OcUK's intensions - to provide a system to spec, rather than exact specified components (which are only occasionally the same thing in system building, as components change daily/weekly). I can remember building business systems and every week we'd be using different motherboards, RAM and even processors for systems customers had paid the same price for.

Not any more, not when people can triple what they paid for it on ebay or gumtree.
