Crysis 2 is another console port, no DX11!!!!

Im currently playing through the original Crysis again to warm myself up for Crysis 2. But based on the reactions its getting so far I might not get it right away...

Well it is a demo, they did develope the PC and Console versions seperately, if you were a games company would you ship a demo that needed a 3000 pound computer to play ?
No, you make it so an average rig can play it nicely.
Gonna reserve judgement until the final product comes out.

That makes no sense.

So those who buy the game based on the demo on their £300 PC find they need a much more powerfull PC to play it as the demo is totally different to the full game? Crazy.

Do you honestly believe the demo code is going to be that much different to the "gold" release?

The game is designed for DirectX 9 - That just stinks. It wont need a £3000 PC to run.

If the 2 versions were developed "seperately" like they say, the PC version would be DX10 at a minimum.

If they chose DX9 for the PC and still developed seperately then they are stupid and incompetent.

It is simple.

DX11 in shipping title - day1 buy.

DX11 not in a shipping title - day "whenever it is 15 pounds" buy

I didn't just buy GTX560Ti clocked to be more powerful than GTX570 just to play some inferior console-like version.

so they developed them separately...then released a demo for the pc based on a console version? i think you're being a bit hopeful there!

Lol...its embarrassing.:o, my 4850 can run Crysis 2 at an average of 45-50fps on the high setting tells me straight away that this is a gimped console engine...

Amazing....a 2011 sequel runs at nearly twice the frame rate as the original.....I'd love to think its down to skillfull programming and an incredibly efficient Gfx engine, but we all know thats not the case...fancy post processing effects can only disguise so much Crytek.

God Bless DX9, God bless the 360 and PS3...

The fact that EA Crytek released a game which feels badly ported, with consolish features (aim assist lol) and consolish graphics shows a complete lack of understanding and arrogance towards the PC gaming community.

This demo fiasco severely undermines my confidence in the competence of Crytek.

Was about to say that the MyCrysis forums are still down (quite a bit longer than the 3-4 hours they said they would be), but just checked, and the entire site seems to be offline now. Infact, it's giving a 404 for me.

Can only imagine what is going on at Crytek atm given the general forum reactions on other sites.

THIS COMMENT RIGHT HERE IS THE REASON WHY WE ARE KILLING PC GAMING.

Its a Demo, its not the full game.... dont listen to every1 else make your own mind up.... I enjoyed it!!!

Whether or not a game is "ported" from console to PC is kind of irrelevant anyway. All game studios (and film studios for that matter) share assets and code. It just doesn't make financial sense to have two (or more) completely independent teams developing for their own particular medium. I personally see no issue with "porting" in itself. The issue here, perhaps, is that it's not being done as well as it perhaps should. Port it, yes, but make sure the PC version is not crippled in any way. I.e. tailor it fully to PC gamers. It's extra work, but it will always pay off in the long term.

And regarding the demo, there is no excuse for a demo being sub-par. The whole point of a demo is to entice people into buying the full game. If music labels released rubbish singles nobody would go on to buy the album. Just doesn't make any sense to rush a demo out and to immediately annoy a huge proportion of potential customers before a launch. Defeats the purpose.

Also I still cannot understand in this day and age why games companies have so many issues with servers and accounts etc. (going on that youtube vid that was posted earlier, here). Surely they can anticipate the demand it would bring and ensure there are adequate resources in place prior to launch?! Again, makes no sense.

Ive pre-ordered it. I'm hoping it will be a big jump from the demo and it won't take 5+ patches to get it up to scratch with DX11 (NO excuse whatsoever for DX9, come on, let's admit it, at least DX10...) and with the silly console labels popping up where they ought not to be.

High hopes for this, still.

Jesus christ there is no winning is there poor crytek i feel sorry for them.

you all moaned like **** when your rigs couldn't play crysis+warhead now your still moaning like **** because you can play them.

i thought for a dx9 demo it looked very good.

i'm pretty sure dx9 users would have gone crazy if the demo was dx10 only etc just like just cause fans went ape **** cause jc2 was dx 10 only.

i like the demo it looked good played ok, and i'll hold out judgement until the final release is here instead of all the assumptions of others
