Whether or not a game is "ported" from console to PC is kind of irrelevant anyway. All game studios (and film studios for that matter) share assets and code. It just doesn't make financial sense to have two (or more) completely independent teams developing for their own particular medium. I personally see no issue with "porting" in itself. The issue here, perhaps, is that it's not being done as well as it perhaps should. Port it, yes, but make sure the PC version is not crippled in any way. I.e. tailor it fully to PC gamers. It's extra work, but it will always pay off in the long term.
And regarding the demo, there is no excuse for a demo being sub-par. The whole point of a demo is to entice people into buying the full game. If music labels released rubbish singles nobody would go on to buy the album. Just doesn't make any sense to rush a demo out and to immediately annoy a huge proportion of potential customers before a launch. Defeats the purpose.
Also I still cannot understand in this day and age why games companies have so many issues with servers and accounts etc. (going on that youtube vid that was posted earlier, here). Surely they can anticipate the demand it would bring and ensure there are adequate resources in place prior to launch?! Again, makes no sense.
Ive pre-ordered it. I'm hoping it will be a big jump from the demo and it won't take 5+ patches to get it up to scratch with DX11 (NO excuse whatsoever for DX9, come on, let's admit it, at least DX10...) and with the silly console labels popping up where they ought not to be.
High hopes for this, still.
