A PC version of the upcoming Crysis 2, which was scheduled for release on March 22nd, has allegedly been leaked online according to reports from RPS and Facepunch.

Forum reports confirm that torrents of Crysis 2 are now 'all over ....'.

We haven't downloaded files to check for ourselves because, as readers have already pointed out, that would only damage the future prospects of the game, especially on the PC platform. Besides; a demo is on the way.

The illegal build of Crysis 2 allegedly contains the full PC game, as well as full multiplayer functionality and has been leaked a full 49 days ahead of release.

Most worrying of all, the leak apparently contains the SolidShield master key for online authentication, potentially creating an even larger security problem for Crytek and Electronic Arts.

The leak is also said to contain the CryEngine 3 editor and is being labelled as a developer build, rather than review or final gold code.

Quite a shocker really, I do not reccomend going onto the site in question.

What are your thoughts on this??

happened to q3 too. but that was a very early engine build. yea it happened to hl2. if crysis 2 is good, it wont matter..but it looks like its a crappy console port like gta4.

because it would be an inexpensive way to deliver it on pc and save money, rather than make pc specific quality for the game...................

But Crysis was on PC, what point would there be making the new engine console and then porting it, as it's obviously based on CryEngine2.

And GTA4 wasn't a crappy port either, if anything the engine itself was just not optimised.

Its a pet peeve of mine and not a huge deal, but GTA 4 ISN'T a crappy port, its a crappy game engine ported to be exactly as bad performing as on the console. It has shocking performance in area's on both console versions, night + lights + shadows give horrific performance, bridges and things make my eyes bleed. The console version just got away with being passable by having view distances toned down, the PC version scales well vs the console at similar settings and is poor with high settings.

Its a fantastic example of poor coding and a poor engine. If it ran great on the consoles and at similar settings on a similarly low powered pc ran badly that would be a poor port like a bunch of other games. OK, chopper control on anything but a pad is painfully bad, that part was badly ported.

And with Assassin's Creed 1 as well. Something like 40-50 days before it got released

Yup, IIRC though Ass Creed 1 only let you go to the first major city, approaching the second one would crash or, just not load, it wasn't a full leak.

Meh, it almost makes me wonder, do people leak barely functional versions of the game early just so they can talk up the piracy problems and use it as an excuse to ignore PC's more and more?

On the leak. Ouch.

To people talking about this game as a port, is the world we live in just a series of different colours and noise to you? You're talking about an engine firmly rooted in PC gaming which has been updated to work on consoles. I'm not even really that convinced you understand what something being ported actually means.

Utterly agree. I've said before, if people think the PC version is a bad port, they should go and check out the console versions (especially the PS3 one). They'd be genuinely shocked.

Its seriously bad news as its just another excuse for them to drop the PC altogether & other publishers/developers will note this & react accordingly. All that will happen is:

1: PC version will be delayed no way will they use TAGES on it now if the master key is leaked.
2: PC version will most likely get a new DRM scheme & or other measures like GFWL or Steamworks to protect the MP components.

They must be able to trace whoever leaked this but it does not matter much as the damage is done already......

PC GTA4 is stunning on a GTX480 or higher as they have enough VRam to max it out (you need 1.2-1.3GB VRam to max everything. Console versions look utterly shocking & the FPS is all over the place & even then its laggy

Maybe the leak was in order to buy them more coding time, as from the report, the game is far from finished, and horribly bugged, so it might be leaking their master code allows them more production time to actually finish the product.

bit sad really, anyone who's downloading it obviously have played crysis 1 and there for should realise that its worth paying for..
