crysis 2 - Over the top spec yet again?

I watched that this morning, its console footage, it looks great to be fair but doesnt look as good as the original Crysis did on PC, I thought it was strange how the original Crysis PC footage looked like it wasnt running at higher settings also the whole control pad situation is obvious, the player picks up a guy by his neck without even looking down at him, things like that would annoy me

I expect the PC version will just look the same but higher res and more AA

A Cryek Dev said, and I quote: "The GTX 260 and 285 are eating the engine for breakfast".

My bad, someone already posted that.

Is cryengine 3 not still in parallel development across all 3 platforms? I'm still very optimistic about this game.

Might even be a bit easier on systems, at least there won't be a billion triangles' worth of vegetation to render every single frame :o

EDIT: stupidly put cryengine 2 :o

The thing is, cross-platform development doesn't necessarily translate to good performance - just look at GTA4 for an example, available on XB360 yet still chugs unless you have a quad core with a hefty GPU.

But GTA4 was developed in parallel for the PS3 and Xbox, and then ported to the PC, presumably from the 360 version. Unless my memory has totally failed me, Cryengine 3 has been in parallel development for all three platforms.

After watching a few vids it would seem the Xbox 360 and PS3 CryEngine3 is similar to CryEngine2 on a PC in medium setting!

Proper PC CryEngine3 in max settings will be awesome

In this video I personally think medium setting on PC using CryEngine 2 looks better than CryEngine 3 on console. Think its time for the release of PS4 and Xbox 1080?!

Slight difference in price between a PS360 and a PC that'll run Crysis on medium though i think...

If Cyrtek have any sense it'll still look great on consoles compared to other software on those platforms. If Crysis2 can stand toe to toe with the likes of Uncharted, killzone, etc then they'll be more than happy. That PC users could be running it at 30000x5000 is of no interest to probably 98% of console gamers.

The best thing I can take from the trailer (which does look very good) is that the PC DVD logo is in the centre - which hopefully translates to "made for PC, and then consoles".

Hopefully....
