Crysis gone Beta

could this announcement mean it won't be too long till we hear how it plays i.e. benchmarks?

I'm more interested in whether it's any good tbh :p If it is, then we can worry about benchmarks/hardware.

I reckon we should have even more details of the Beta demo come E3 which is just over a week away, we should also have firm release date news I reckon.

I can't understand how so many people with 8800's are actually worried about performance.

Perhaps you are all far too used to the lame ass ports we have been getting.

This game is going to be great. Not the second coming or anything like that, but still one of the best FPS of the last few years if not ever.

I think there are only 2 FPSs out this year that will/might top it and they are CoD4 and Bioshock. I just think the gameplay of those two will be a step above Crysis. Still, i don't think all this talk of excessive hype is valid. The only thing i have seen being hyped up is the graphics and we already know that the game will deliver on this front. No one has played it enough to hype up the gameplay. I'm expecting a similar experience to Far Cry. Amazing looking and pretty darn good gameplay. I am very confident of Crytek delivering on this and so i can't see myself being disappointed. They might even pull a blinder out of the bag with the gameplay and surprise me!

Actually spend some time trying to make the multi something thats gonna make the game last??

I think farcry suffered the same fate, the only thing that expanded its life was the gimmick of the sm 3.0 patch, after the sp was beaten the multi slowly died away. Gets annoying to me when devs go all out for the sp experience when they know that the multiplayer portion is the games lifeblood.
You know pretty much all of the best FPSs of all time have had weak MP elements packed in? HL and HL2 have given me by far the best multiplayer experiences i have ever had and they basically came with DM and DM:S. Far Cry multiplayer died because the SDK took an age to come out after release of the game, this meant modders quickly moved on to Source and other engines for their modding. Crytek are releasing the SDK around the same time as the game and have already given 2 modding teams access to the SDK so that the mods will be well on their way even before the game is released. Crysis will be amazing for mods, theres really no question of that.

I know, it is really quite funny. I have an 8800GTS 320mb and am extremely confident that Crysis will run smooth as silk whilst looking absolutely stunning.

Agreed. Remember, Crysis is being developed on the 8800s!

Just because its a TWIMTBP game dosnt mean that Crytek havn't been working just as hard with ATi (Im an ATi beta tester so I know this ;) ), remember Crytek want it to perform just as well on ATi hardware as nvidia hardware.

Keen to see how it runs on my 7900GTX and if it'll still look pretty, planning to upgrade around the time retail Crysis hits.

Give bigger GTX price cut.

It's pretty poor really, think about it this way.

You use an OS *all* the time, for everything you do. People will quite happily pay £30 for a game they may get bored of within a few weeks, whereas an OS will last you years.

Just something to think about. I haven't paid for an OS either by the way.
