Crysis @ i31

I can't imagine that they would have been left unsupervised - chances are they weren't even permitted to quit the game.

Sorry for naming a competitor, it wasn't intentional, it was just that the area was just called something stand. Wasn't really thinking properly at the time i was writing as i've been so sleep deprived :p As i write this i have not slept for 2 days now hehe, now that im home im looking forward to sleep.... Reminds me of when i attended the overclocking session with intel and they couldn't recommend a voltage (other than stock), or any manufacturer name. So AMD was known as "Alternative Manufacturing Devices" and Arctic Silver 5 was known as "silver with something cool in the name" hehe.

Anyway to the point!

Not sure if it was running vista or not, i never got to see the desktop. If i remember right and from looking at pictures, they are running on 19" screens with a res of 1280x1024. I don't think the stuttering was as severe as you guys may think it is, its only for a very very tiny fraction of a second, and it rarely happened. About 99.999999999% of the time it was 100% smooth. Remember they are running at max settings and with a game of that much detail, you can't expect it to run flawlessly 100% of the time :p The game looked incredible, and i was quite impressed with how they got the blurring effects done so well.

Funniest moment was picking up a chicken and throwing it into a shed wall :D

Oh and yes the whole stand area was well staffed, and so was the whole of the exhibition floor really to minimise the chances of theft, and just to answer as many questions as they can with the amount of people there.

Gotta be all true if u can do that in crysis !

We all get that slight stutter in games now adays even with all settings on max, by the time the finals out will be even more optimised.... and if anything 4gig is cheap not to mention Nvidias 9800GTX 1gig hopefully due with crysis launch come November !

I don't think you can take the specs of those PCs as a true reflection of the game's system requirements. It's more like a showcase of the competitor's top PCs. I'd be more interested on how Crysis performs on a more realistic configuration.

That most certainly IS a realistic setup.

I'd go as far as to say that its sub what most guys on this forum have....

(Overclocked 8800GTX - 3.2+ghz C2Q - 2GB/4Gb ram - Raptors etc)

No because when i buy i really high performance game, i want to upgrade my pc. But im saving up and if i buy this game my savings will dissapear. :( :(
I would like to play games at medium but this game will force me to play at low, which just looks plain ugly.

The difference between 'high' and 'ultra' settings in games tends to be fairly subtle visually, yet vastly different in frame rates. I'm sure you won't need anything hugely powerful to run the game at Medium settings and still enjoy how it looks.

Sounds all good tbh, if it runs better than lost planet, which runs at a measly 15FPS with all features maxed, on a q6600, bfg OC 8800GTX and 8GB of ram then i'll be reasonably pleased.

Lol Washout, fancy seeing you here!! And yes it's cc//BlackDragon hehe

Well you don't NEED the same specs as the PCs on show, as this is top of the range hardware, which not everyone has. They aren't going to send a game into the market where you need top hardware just to run it, because they wouldn't make very much money at all. It would certainly help to have quad-core and a GTX, but even if you don't, im sure you can still play it at medium, or even at low without the game looking like Doom.

thing is, from all the screenshots and videos i have seen for this game. i can totally understand it running slow as hell on a high end system like above. since this is ONE game that has a reason to run slow not like DIRT, GRAW, Rainbow 6 Vegas, splinter cell double agent etc which run slow and don;t even have a real excuse to be running slow with thier crappy graphics.

Im assuming it was DX10 because of the clever shadow effects and stuff which i remember someone saying it was part of DX10 tech demo ages ago.

Not really sure, ill have to ask someone.
