Won't have to upgrade after all :p New my GTX could hold out for another year :)

Heh. Not really a surprise though considering most of the videos we have seen were running on DX9 and DX9 hardware so either 788SLI or 1900 crossfire, if not just single cards.
They seem very good at optimizing their engines. Far Cry looked awesome even on my 9700 Laptop :)

What exactly is your basis for this? When the Half life 2 videos started appearing everyone was saying "zomg it needs a 10bajillion ghz cpu and a geforce 10, but nope, it ran beautifully on my rather out-of-date 9800. Just because it looks pretty doesnt mean they havent optimised the bejebus out of it.

Also recommended means to run a game perfectly happily on medium settings, in order to hit the eye candy i'm sure you will need a 8800gts or the like, but since when have recommended specs stated what you need to run the game at high settings?

this was mine for eye candy. also from the videos that are on the net clearly shows u need 8800GTS+ to get decent playable fps with loads of action +sum eye candy

not really.

Aren't these pretty old specs? The fact it says Pentium D instead of C2D for a start...? And a 7600 or X1600 for the recommended video card? I wish!

I think an 8800 might struggle in crysis :( In DX10 anyway.

The videos were shown, CONFIRMED on an x1900xtx and a dual core amd. mmk?
Which looked the same as the dx10 vids, tbh.

I also would have thought itd take up a lot more HDD space than 6gb. . .

Not necessarily, lots of space can be saved by being good at managing textures/assets. Also I speculate that there will be a reasonable amount of procedurally generated content.

e.g. Prey looked reasonably good and didn't it have a small install size? Can someone check this? I know it's not a like for like exactly; but some games producers are good at using space efficiently.

Crysis will definitely run on low/medium spec systems. It would be suicide for Crytek if it didn't.
I'm getting tired of everyone saying 'I have to buy 2 8800GTX's and a quad core to play the game'
