Crysis shock

My friend who is a games tester today told me that crysis is going to need a super uber pc and it stutters on his, now considering his rig is-

Core 2 quad x6850 4ghz
4gb ram
2 x 8800 ultra
1000W psu
Asus p5k3 premium mobo
2 x Raptor x in raid 0

So unless we win the lottery anytime soon were in trouble :(

How's he a games tester? Surely he should know that Crysis will NOT need a uber computer to run the game, anything that stutters at the mo on testing will be ironed out in patches...etc

Actually no i didnt make it up i just got back from my girlfriends, anyway i asked my games tester buddy and he said hes on the alpha version what ever that means so as someone said theyll iron out any creases before it comes out so we as consumers get a fantastic experiaence no matter our hardware.

Well raid 0 doesn't affect loading times at all in games, 1000W psu is certainly not needed, and the motherboard doesn't affect stock performance. So half of that is a waste. A Q6600 can achieve over 3GHz, so the 6850 is a waste as well. At normal resolutions without AA the value of sli is debateable as well and an 8800ultra is really not worth it over an 8800gtx.

work pc that he is testing it on maybe :P ?

"now considering his rig is"

Also, i doubt they spend that much to test games which shouldn't need you to spend 3 grand on a pc.

I still find it hard to beleive that he has that pc. Specialy considering as stated above. a lot of it seems wasted.

People forget you tweak games to fit your tastes any way so as it runs the way you find acceptable on your machine me personally i knock the aa and filter down a notch and knock the res up a notch, this bring quite a good performance lift with little or no noticeable effect on the visuals.
Of course this is just my view and may not be everybody's but everyone has there own little tricks and tweaks and knows what way there computer handles the games.
Crysis will be no different, besides the fact its primarily a game but secondly a bit of a software showcase so they are going to make it uber its a way of selling there brand.
And yes that rig is a bit of a waist its a contradiction of hardware uber elite hardware that hinders each other beautifully.

this si stupid wait and see whats the point in speculationg the fac tis its coming out and you may need an upgrade for ubber settings on a daft sized screen

My friend who is a games tester told me that Crysis is not actully an FPS at all, it is all lies.

How can anyone speculate on this, aside from the devs, no-one in the world really has any clue as to how optimized the game is and, aside from what the devs have told us, what it will require to run.

I really do wish people would stop discussing whether their "BFG 8800 GTX, Q6600 Double D super computer with padding around the wings for extra comfort" will run crysis.

Sometimes i wonder whether some people are just trying to show off their rigs in the most aloof manner possible, or whether they are in fact silly enough to believe a successful game developer will make a game that won't run on the average computer.

/rant

^ Totally agree, they would be right shmucks to make a game that 99% of the world's population would'nt be able to run!

Define Stutters?

A game not even in BETA yet stutters on a PC with two gfx cards that have horrible SLI drivers running in SLI stutters. I'm not surprised.

dev's have there work in progress to test and see were bugs are.
not sure how i works weather they have a level or two then move to the net few or a game in basic form but obviously they have these at there disposal to aid there development and such need game testers to give them feedback.
i think.

Sorry but anyone who genuinely believes Crysis is going to struggle on a rig like that could likely write down their entire PC hardware knowledge on the back of a rice crispie. Ludicrous. :p
