Crysis vs. Far Cry 2

One being developed by the creators of the original far cry, and the other being created by the publishers of the original: ubisoft, it seems a great battle will commence on the grounds of our humble pc's. Well figuratively anyway...

Crysis will return you to the jungle with a high tech nanosuit and a small arsenal of weaponry, fantastic graphics and realistic physics. Far Cry 2 will move you to Africa set in the plains, a supposed 50 square kilometres of play zone, day/night cycle and true herd dynamics for the local creatures.

So which one is exciting you the most? This is ignoring the fact that they're in different stages of development (beta vs. fancy screenshot stage).

Looking forward to Crysis a lot (basically just because of the engine), not looking forward to Far Cry 2 at all :\
 
Far Cry 2 dosent really do anything for me tbh. I know its just been announced. Ill need to see what the storyline is before I completly dismiss it.
 
Farcry 2 will be a poor game as it's just Ubisoft using the name to male some money. I hope I will be surprised, but I very much doubt I will.

I had this impression as well. But from reading a few articles I'm more excitied about it now.

The completely open enviroment (lets hope it is, unlike STALKER), the weather and fire systems effecting how you fight the AI sounds intresting. And the fact it's only being made for the PC, which is very unlike Ubisoft these days all point to a game with potential.

Will wait for more information before I get too excited though. It's suppose to be out Q1 2008, so more information should be coming out soon.
 
Since hearing more about Far Cry 2 I'm very much looking forward to it, not as much as Crysis mind but anticipation has gone up.
 
I'm too familiar with Crysis and there isnt enough Far Cry 2 info out to make a fair judgement between the two.

UBI are definately taking a different approach with both the gameplay and the marketing.

Crysis will hit the streets first and redefine FPS gaming...

This will be an interesting one to watch, hopefully they will both hit the spot...
 
To be honest, Crysis for me will be the better of the two, although i can't help to say i really do like some of ubi's games (shocking i know).

Splinter Cell's were always good (shame Double Agent doesn't work with 8800 properly.. stutters like hell) Rainbow Six's are very fun, I love vegas for pc (I hear a lot of people have problems with it.. sure its badly coded but its a really fun game, could have been a lot better but it does just right for now, best FPS at the moment)

Farcry 2 should be another of these good, fun games... that are just badly done (not to the extent its beyond playable, just where it hinders the experience a little bit)
 
Honestly im looking forward to far cry 2 more. i thought it would just be a cash in but previews sound really exciting, far better than the lots of graphics, no a.i fest that crysis is turning out to be. I hope to god im wrong but i think crysis is going to bomb, great engine, no game.

nah i think theyve learned their lesson since far cry (i never even completed that game, stopped playing when the impossibly difficult mutants arrived, plus no savegames)

im hoping the ai in the vids so far have been on low or something for gameplay video purposes.

i doubt the storyline will be very compelling, but i feel the game will be more like a film when played through (a good sci fi film or something), and they claim the finale will be unlike any in any game ever before.
 
I dunno lads, from the looks of it Crysis will be a graphical giant, but I fear for it's gameplay. I'll reserve judgement till release :)

There's not enough info an FC2 to make any judgement whatsoever.
 
I don't get why everyone is going on about Crysis gameplay looking bad? :s
You can pick people up, through them through buildings, into other people, to the sharks?
Take out vehicles in many different ways.
So many different approaches to completing goals.

I really fail to see how people say the gameplay looks bad.

Because so far every video has shown enemies standing around waiting for you to do that stuff, im hoping it is that the difficulty is set to easy, but even then easy difficulty shouldn't mean no a.i. it should mean less damage. If it was the case that its set to easy i dont see why every video would be done like that.

Same for me as well. After the way Far Cry hit everyone by storm, and was a great game. I am deffo looking forwards to the sequal.

Have got them both on Pre-order. ;)

Shock horror beta footage showing the game not being perfect :rolleyes:


I'm not going to completely judge the game until a demo or the final release is out, I've seen far worse looking alpha and beta footage in the past.

Back on topic, AI certainly looks no worse than HL2 :o

Alpha patched to beta actually... so yeah. Oh, and on easy mode in 99% of the vids
