Crysis Warhead Custom Config

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis warhead\Game\system.cfg"

nice one mate, however no system config file. thanks for the help though, i was after the path you mentioned

edit right i just put it in the game folder and it worked. i still get serious glow around the gun, i change the soa or whatever to many diff numbers, still the same. default was 0.35 the darkness one

I play at 1920x1200 but am at work atm so will post my findings afterw ork!

Gashman, fancy saying "this is the config i use look at the screenies" Then going offline without actually posting the config???:confused:

its deffos faster and looks wise well one thing i noticed is that at the beginning when you walk into that sunrise sunset view when the planes are bombing. well that used to be a really bright yellow and you could not see much past it. now its still got the brightness but its not bright everywhere, only the sun and slight surroundings. you can see more now.

now i can play at 1920x1080 bout a 15fps increase for me maybe more

^ ya it is. noticed it a lot under all the trees in the 2nd mission. would that be something to do with the HDR? will try to play around with that setting abit

the stupid glow around you weapons, open the file, and eddit the r_ssao something or other from 0.30 to (stock 0.075) or like me 0.030

Which one of these do I change

r_SSAO = 1
r_SSAO_amount = 1
r_SSAO_blur = 4
r_SSAO_blurriness = 1
r_SSAO_darkening = 0.35
r_SSAO_quality = 1
r_SSAO_radius = 1

This config made it worse for me. Didn't run very smoothly and debatable whether it looks better. The bushes look more dense, thats about it.

And its far too dark.

Whats the variable to tell the game how much vram you have? Seen a post on another forum a few days abck and it said something along the lines of a variable being set to only make use of 256mb.

The config mod tests are complete and my findings are that in both X9 and DX10 the FPS is increased and the image quality is also either the same or increased (denser vegetation, more saturated colours etc)

Here's my screens:

DX9 Enthusiast

DX10 Enthusiast

There are differences in IQ actually but they're too small to be not worth the FPS increase. To be getting 30FPS at least in 1920x1200 is pretty damn good for the IQ presented.

r_SSAO_darkening = 0.35

thats the one you change to get rid of gun glow, change it to...one of these

(Default)
r_SSAO_darkening = 0.075

(mine)
r_SSAO_darkening = 0.035

Here's some more of this custom config:

I edited it to erase the sound and shadow options as I have those set to enthusiast) at 1920x1080.

hello again, i post what im using so far, work in progress though and the screenshots were 1154*864 (or whatever it is) trying to get the game to look a little less sharp at the moment but no luck, just keeps crashing, by the way i found -devmode in your shortcut and editing the time of day in the console can give spectacular effects in game with HDR, plus you can slow down the rate which time passes, thats current CVARs.

con_restricted = 0

give altering time of day a shot as well using -devmode in .exe, console in game and e_time_of_day=8.0 for example (8am) or something like 6.5 (6:30am) at sunrise

before i forget, avoid using r_TexturesStreaming=0 in warhead, causes serious crashing problems for me

just got back from putting memory module back in so back to 4Gb, and i must be the first to say it makes an ENORMOUS difference in smoothness. does anyone know how they do the 'blur' in the engine for cutscenes, since there all done in cryengine2 they should be replicatable in game but i don't understand how they do it! :confused: think thats one of the keys to getting it looking more like pre-release pictures, also has anyone heard of sun specular modifier CVAR?
