Hate to say it...But Crysis is extremely scalable actually.

Granted, it doesn't look as good on a low end system as a high end one, but thats what you get when you pay for better hardware.

Crysis isn't badly coded, people seem to forget there is a lot going on in Crysis nearly all the time, yet moan about it.

Yes, it could run better, yes, it could be better optimised, but hey. It HAS pushed the envelope for graphics, and I'm glad it has, I'm fed up with seeing blothcey textures like you get in console games, I welcome the change.

Oh and the new Stalker is going to rule too hopefully :)

TBH UT3 doesn't look that good. Its good yeah, but crysis is using features that have only been used in the film industry. Its not down to poor coding, its simply ahead of its time. Why are you moaning anyway , you have bleeding edge technology. Why do you have such a powerful machine? I take it it isn't to play freecell or mine sweeper. Also stalker looks good but still not as good as crysis. And yes it does push the industry it even pushes the console industry considering 360 uses an old ATi chipset. Oh and I never said anything about vista?! And I beleive crysis has many many graphics options which means it can run on most machines. Don't be silly about DX8 how many games now require a gfx card capable of SM3.0 or 2.0?

I think SOME (not all) of the bad coding argument is justifiable, you couldn’t run aa without destroying the performance of the game before the latest patch was released.

...That's because there is about 50 + tress in your view area, and that's not accounting the other vegetation and barrels and your own characters gear :)

There is the Edge AA command as well which helps performance rather than full blown AA.

Indeed, the patch helped, but that's what patches are for...To improve thing's.

UT3 is still definitely one of the best looking PC games out there IMO, but hey, each to his own.

I moan because even with bleeding edge technology Crysis runs like carp. I don't think it's unreasonable to want all my games to run at full detail, 1920x1200, with 2xAA and 2xAF, but even with a mighty 9800GX2, stick the AA on and it slows to a crawl. It's not that I'm moaning about the fact that the game looks good, just that it takes so much power to get there, and this unreasonable assumption that people should be forced to upgrade again and again and again. If you've ever heard about the Demo Scene you'll know what I mean. I mentioned Windows Vista because it's a perfect example of bloat; only designed to be run on powerful modern machines with a complete disregard for everything else.

Regarding DX8, yes, I know that most gamers aren't running such old machines, but it's great that GSG have provided the option.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'd appreciate it if developers took time to create efficient and well-written code that still produces amazing visuals, instead of forcing people to upgrade their hardware just because it's easier. I enjoy upgrading - I love PCs - but upgrades are a key reason why the mainstream aren't PC gamers, and why PC gaming appears to be dying. People don't want the hassle of having to learn advanced computing just to be able to play their games. Consoles are just so much easier.

I'll definitely give Warhead a go though - I'll be interested to see if Crytek has taken on the critiscism that Crysis received.

Hopefully I'm allowed to post this: http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/crysiswarhead/video/6195788

Just a small video interview.

I see your point in those cases Reflux, one would think a brand new 9800GTX can do what your asking.

I still have my debates over high resoloutions though, you game at a high resoloution, no doubt because of your monitor, so general strain is going to be bad on your card and setup. If you lowered the res or changed your monitor down (which I know won't happen, as you love the size of it no doubt :p) But you see my point.

Luckily when I upgraded from my 19" CRT to my 22" sammy, I didn't get any frame drops, and I'm dead chuffed about that.

But I do believe they have made some changes to Warhead over Crysis regarding optimisation.

Whilst I share your contempt for him he isn't stealing anything - he's infringing copyright which is not theft.

Me uploading a game to a torrent is Copyright infringing as im not asking money for it. but the people down loading it to play are committing theft as it is meant to be paid for, you pay to play & you did not pay & the developers get nothing.

Me copying a a DVD game is Copyright infringing & my friend who im giving it to will be committing theft.

yes it had some issues and certain thing's I didn't like... I don't think I've played ANY game, where I've come away and said wow I liked every second of that.

Thought that was worth a quote as I found it quite funny, sorry. :D

Seriously though, I'm actually looking forward to Warhead a lot, a redone, polished version of Crysis sounds good to me.

I also hope it does well in sales figures so Crytek don't abandon developing on the PC altogether.

Sorry, I don't get it...Wheres the amusing part? :)

The game had issues, as I stated in the level where you see the big alien mountain thing start to rumble in the distance...It caused a mega slow down, On my system anyway.

True though...There isn't really any game I can say every second of it has been amazing...Other than HL2 really, but even that wasen't perfect.

I think you need to put down the ladybird book of law. Theft requires the defendant to have intended to permanently deprive the victim of the item in question. This of course does not happen when somebody downloads a game - therefore it is not theft, but copyright infringement.

This is a civil and not a criminal offence.

It's actually quite fun to ponder, considering Crysis is pretty much the most advanced game out, how much further we have to go to start replicating real life, and thus how much life is left in the gaming industry with regards to graphics, physics and so on.

I'l be picking up a copy, as said above, a polished refined version of Crysis would be lovely.

Seen as though you've asked...

You said the game had things you didn't like and that you liked every second of it in the same sentence.

I knew what you meant but it still seemed kinda funny / contradictory at the time. :)

Eh...? No I didn't :p

Notice the bold "Don't" in the middle there ;)
