CRYSIS - WOW!!

Well, it isn't out yet, so how can you compare it to gears of war ? I suppose if you mean only the graphics.
For me, Bioshock is the only PC game I'm really looking forward to - mark my words it's gonna be the new half - life 2.
Although if the gameplay in crysis is as good as far cry, I'll get that too.

Ive played gow on me mates and i wasn't that impressed with the visuals tbfh, there good but nothing amazing.

I can't see them stuffing up crysis if the gameplay is anything like farcry it will be great.

Some of the later levels on GoW were simply stunning. Much better than the earlier ones. The underground mines with the yellow goo dripping everywhere were some of the best graphics Ive seen to date, and that was on a non HDTV plasma. :D

LOL i needed a good laugh

You find it funny

Have you played GoW on a decent HDTV? have you played it online?

I'm comparing Crysis to GoW from the online footage available and i'm sorry if you find it funny but imo GoW looks better.

I really enjoyed FarCry and i'm looking forward to Crysis but i'm not blind and i repeat from what i've seen GoW looks better than Crysis.

While i'm at it GoW online is far better than FarCry and unless something radical happens to Crysis i bet GoW will be better to.

Here's what i find funny - People who spend a fortune on PC component's to play the latest games only to be outdone by a sub £300 console but can't see it!

I can ;)

Theres no need to take this thread out of context, if theres a thread for praising a game, it's not wise to come in and knock it. Especially comparing it to a console. You'll get another flame war started.

You have a point, but new consoles always have their moment in the limelight where they superseed the PC for a short period. It won't last forever though. With DX10 around the corner, and games like Crysis, Alan Wake, HL2 Ep2, Bioshock, Quake Wars etc. all coming next year, the balance will tip in the PC's favour again.

How much did the HDTV that you play GoW cost? I've played GoW, I found it boring and repetitive, much like any other console game. The fact that it looks nice is largely irrelevant. Emperor's new clothes anyone?

Clip looked amazing, wouldnt mind seeing the DX9 version of that clip though just to compare ;)

As for GOW, does look amazing its Xbox360s gamers moment.... let em have it we will have our Crysis and UT2007 and better soon enough :)

Call me a bit of a party pooper, but I didn't find it all that amazing.

Sure it looks nice, but I don't seem to be getting the "wow" factor that every1 else is.

you can buy Crysis, Alan Wake, (not sure about quake wars?) on the 360 anyway.

PC gaming is dead, takes far too long to create a game, performance wise is pretty shocking, neverwinter nights 2 F.E.A.R (looked average at best), consoles are the way forward I hate to admit. Taking over 3 years to create a game is beyond a joke
The PC crowd are hoping for DX10 to give it a kick start, no idea why as I thought its just a performance increase more than visual effects. Crysis graphicly does look good, but I found Farcry to be boring as hell, and the lighting wasnt anything special in the engine

what console FPS has a good engine (looks and performance) that could be used for online play?

surely if PC games stopped being developed all technology would slowly grind to a halt. I thought it was games that brought us good hardware to start with? who needs a flashy graphics card to run internet and word?

Crysis certainly isn't coming on the 360, or any console yet.

LOL! You are so wrong with that statement it's scary! Evidence?? I heard similar arguments years ago when PS2 was released. We're still here.

takes far too long to create a game...
What, they're knocking console games out in weeks now are they? Development periods and budgets are comparable. Plus console technology is closer to PC now than it's ever been. Not to mention it's PC hardware/software that is driving the console tech forward. Without PC's, you'd probably still be playing the SNES!

...performance wise is pretty shocking, neverwinter nights 2 F.E.A.R (looked average at best)
If you're playing on a crappy system, sure, but you can't judge a game based on it's worst performance on a system that doesn't meet the recommendations. See these games on decent systems with all settings cranked up to the max and you can't help but be impressed. Consoles just level the playing field for their games, which is great in some respects but a hinderence in others.

The PC crowd are hoping for DX10 to give it a kick start, no idea why as I thought its just a performance increase more than visual effects
Do your research. DX10 is far more than a simple performance upgrade.

I found Farcry to be boring as hell, and the lighting wasnt anything special in the engine
With respect, that is just your own opinion. And people have said the same about GoW. The game sold very well (the most important thing when it comes to the future of the PC games market) and millions of people DID enjoy it. But you're never going to please everyone.

How anyone can say PC gaming is dead is beyond me. You're failing to see the big picture. A cursory glance at the evolution of this industry should make it quite clear that PC and console gaming is here to stay.

:)

Unreal Engine 3.0 is being used by a few developers now, Rainbow Six, Unreal Tournament 2007 and Gears of War, but all would be more fun to play to me personally on a PC, and potentiall look better with the right hardware (though expensive in the short term).

I already had a 32" HDTV it cost £600 and it's used as our main set for Sky, DVD's, HTPC and 360 so you can't really say we bought it just for the 360.

So you found GoW "boring and repetitive, much like any other console game" then do tell us how you found Crysis?

When i first looked at this thread i left the comment "I really don't think it looks as good as Gears of War on the 360 and no i'm not just being controversial or anything." Because all we can do atm is compare graphics from pictures and movies. So i did and found GoW to look better. It's my oppinion and i'm sticking to it!

I don't beleive PC gaming is dead look at my sig i own a reasonable system myself. But i say it as i see it and GoW as the best graphics i've seen to date, Crysis although it looks good is no GoW. I know PC games will soon surpass GoW etc. (at what price) but for the moment the 360 as it and at a damn good price :)

I also thought Consoles couldn't compete with PC's online, I mean how could they? 64 player games Like CSS and BF2 surely beyond what a console can do? Wrong! at the end of the day it's all about fun and just lately i've had as much fun on GoW and Vegas as i ever did on CSS, BF2 BF2142 etc. and not had to worry about buyin a £400 upgrade to do it justice :)

Anyway back on topic.

Crysis looks nice but not as nice as GoW in IMO ;)
