Some of the later levels on GoW were simply stunning. Much better than the earlier ones. The underground mines with the yellow goo dripping everywhere were some of the best graphics Ive seen to date, and that was on a non HDTV plasma.Jabbs said:Ive played gow on me mates and i wasn't that impressed with the visuals tbfh, there good but nothing amazing.
I can't see them stuffing up crysis if the gameplay is anything like farcry it will be great.

You have a point, but new consoles always have their moment in the limelight where they superseed the PC for a short period. It won't last forever though. With DX10 around the corner, and games like Crysis, Alan Wake, HL2 Ep2, Bioshock, Quake Wars etc. all coming next year, the balance will tip in the PC's favour again.pumaz said:Here's what i find funny - People who spend a fortune on PC component's to play the latest games only to be outdone by a sub £300 console but can't see it!
I can![]()

FishThrower said:you can buy Crysis, Alan Wake, (not sure about quake wars?) on the 360 anyway.
PC gaming is dead, takes far too long to create a game, performance wise is pretty shocking, neverwinter nights 2 F.E.A.R (looked average at best), consoles are the way forward I hate to admit. Taking over 3 years to create a game is beyond a joke
The PC crowd are hoping for DX10 to give it a kick start, no idea why as I thought its just a performance increase more than visual effects. Crysis graphicly does look good, but I found Farcry to be boring as hell, and the lighting wasnt anything special in the engine
Crysis certainly isn't coming on the 360, or any console yet.FishThrower said:you can buy Crysis, Alan Wake, (not sure about quake wars?) on the 360 anyway.

LOL! You are so wrong with that statement it's scary! Evidence?? I heard similar arguments years ago when PS2 was released. We're still here.FishThrower said:PC gaming is dead
What, they're knocking console games out in weeks now are they? Development periods and budgets are comparable. Plus console technology is closer to PC now than it's ever been. Not to mention it's PC hardware/software that is driving the console tech forward. Without PC's, you'd probably still be playing the SNES!takes far too long to create a game...
If you're playing on a crappy system, sure, but you can't judge a game based on it's worst performance on a system that doesn't meet the recommendations. See these games on decent systems with all settings cranked up to the max and you can't help but be impressed. Consoles just level the playing field for their games, which is great in some respects but a hinderence in others....performance wise is pretty shocking, neverwinter nights 2 F.E.A.R (looked average at best)
Do your research. DX10 is far more than a simple performance upgrade. The PC crowd are hoping for DX10 to give it a kick start, no idea why as I thought its just a performance increase more than visual effects
With respect, that is just your own opinion. And people have said the same about GoW. The game sold very well (the most important thing when it comes to the future of the PC games market) and millions of people DID enjoy it. But you're never going to please everyone.I found Farcry to be boring as hell, and the lighting wasnt anything special in the engine
Unreal Engine 3.0 is being used by a few developers now, Rainbow Six, Unreal Tournament 2007 and Gears of War, but all would be more fun to play to me personally on a PC, and potentiall look better with the right hardware (though expensive in the short term).geeza said:what console FPS has a good engine (looks and performance) that could be used for online play?
surely if PC games stopped being developed all technology would slowly grind to a halt. I thought it was games that brought us good hardware to start with? who needs a flashy graphics card to run internet and word?
