According to the Metro yesturday its more addictive than crack cocaine. Wouldnt know myself, however i am interested in how they test the "addiction" of these drugs and grade them. Can anyone enlighten me?

The drug can either be snorted or injected, or in its crystal form 'ice' smoked in a pipe, and brings on a feeling of exhilaration and a sharpening of focus. Smoking ice results in an instantaneous dose of almost pure drug to the brain, giving a huge rush followed by a feeling of euphoria for anything from 2-16 hours.
Its used in the clubbing scene as a dance drug.

It can make you age quickly aswell from what ive heard.

They rate addiction by the amount of time the brain starts to crave it and pump out the chemicals into your bady that make you feel bad until you get it. (I think but im not to sure)

Crystal meth is a common name for methamphetamine. Amphetamine sulphate is yer bog-standard "speed" (fet, whizz, sulph, billy, etc)

I'd imagine from the name that it's more similar to speed than it is to coke, but I'll bet it still tastes like cat **** though.

I'm skeptical as to whether there is an actual scientific scale of addictiveness of drugs.

In my opinion the addictiveness of a certain drug is decided by the media and as such each new drug has to be more addictive than the last.

Crack cocaine was more addictive than "normal" cocaine, crystal meth is more adictive than crack, drug X will be more addictive than crystal meth etc. etc.

If each new drug wasn't "more addictive" than the previous one, there wouldn't be much of a story would there?

"Drug X is half as addictive as cocaine" wouldn't sell many newspapers.

Stan :)

i can imagine from a medical point of view, there are ways of measuring how 'addictive' a drug might be, though how they test these theories out on i'm not sure, as i can't imagine medical research involving given people things like crack or speed would be considered ethical.

Give it to them????? Definitely unethical!
They should call for volunteers and pay them the proper rate for medical testing! :D

I don't actually know what crystal meth is or how you do it

Same as matey, I'm 36 and haven't done anything harder than go to a coffee bar in Amsterdam, honestly I don't understand drugs its just a simple way to completely **** yourself up in a very short space of time

This one speaks the truth :)

There is no analogue scale as to defining the addictiveness of a substance. Assessing how addictive a drug can be is based on understanding the physiological and neurological effects of the drug (at a cellular level), and conducting questionnaires on drug users or those currently addicted. Just referring to what Bigstan was talking about, nicotine is supposedly more 'addictive' than any of these harder drugs. Of course, the effects of nicotine compared with these drugs is an entirely different matter.

Different drugs, different effects. For instance I don't do hallucinogens - I don't like them, they annoy me, simple as.

I'm sure you have it under control (or think you have) I would rather just err on the side of caution and just go nowhere near the **** ;)

Anwyay I'm high on life :)

Thing is, drugs can give you such a pleasent feeling, like there isn't anything better in the entire world. Why you think that people take heroine when it can kill them? Because it's so sweet, after you had a few highs you crave it because it makes you feel so damn good.

Mate, not wanting to sound rude, but how can they annoy you?! What's wrong with you?

It's not just that, it's much easier to make crystal meth than it is to make cocaine, a guy with some chemistry knowledge and some over the counter stuff can make it and get rich off of it, but cocaine? You need to know a lot of people who know peolpe.
