Crystal Meth

The opinion I tend to give regarding drugs (And this isn't a promotion of them) is that you're likely to really enjoy them, but they'll cheapen every other good experience you've ever had. Everytime you then do something fun, say a night out on the town for instance, you'll always have that nagging feeling that it could be better IF..........

Crystal Meth I've never encountered. Recently up here the drug of choice for club goers was Ketamin, God only knows why though. :/

its a date rape drug- tablet or powder form and oraly taken i think

edit: sorry i have no answers to your original post

The big problem with crystal meth is that a) it's fairly simple to produce at home, and b) it's highly addictive.

I wouldn't call it a date rape drug however. No more so than any illicit substance can be used to induce intoxification, deep sleep and memory blackouts. Classic example of a "date rape" drug that's been around since the year dot... Alcohol.

Ketamine is beyond comprehension to me , why anyone would knowingly want to take what is , in effect , a tranquiliser is beyond belief

I thought the date-rape drug was rohypnol (think it's spelt correctly)

There is NO date rape drug per se, no one has ever designed a drug for use in date rape. Its is a description given to any drug used to facilitate the act of date rape itself, probably the most common date rape drug is actually alcohol.

I'm 28 and have never taken drugs in my life (bar alcohol, if you consider that a drug). They've never appealed to me whatsoever.

Well some would say its a drug, i personally think its a legalised form of drug as it gives you more or less the same sort of feeling that you would get from taking drugs i guess.

Personally i dont do drugs but in my younger and more sillier days i was smoking weed but thats about the hardest i ever went. Havent smoked a joint for almost 6 yrs now, did try a bit of coke but found it overrated compared to a joint.

in small doses ketamine makes things "fluffy" but the problem is, when people take ket, they've usually been drinking or doing other drugs. the combination of this can put people into a "k-hole" which is extremely unpleasant - a bad trip is a better description.

again, i bring alcohol back into the debate.

imagine, this new product on the market called "booze". one or two hits of "booze" makes you chatty, giggle, and friendly. too much, and you're balance and co-ordination detiriates, you may become depressed, angry or violant, or all three, with no warning. too much and it will poison you. long term it can cause liver damage.

do you think, if alcohol was a "new" prodcut it would be legalised?

quite often the papers will sensationalise illegal drugs, when in reality, LEGAL drugs kill more people in this country. but the big winner is the amount of revenue the government make through..........

Angel Dust is another name for PCP (Phencyclidine).

Once saw a picture in FHM of a dude who did a load of PCP then went and smashed a mirror and deliberately sliced the skin off his own face.

Yeah, it was gross.

Also, saw someone mention GHB... It's a muscle relaxant. It inhibits your ability to move, but leaves you conscious from what I understand. So, you could be utterly paralysed but fully conscious. Pretty nasty on the rape front. Also, if you take enough GHB it will relax your heart (one big muscle) until it stops and you obviously die.

To test addictiveness of drugs they can use rats in experiments. The hook up a drug delivery system to the rat or animal and then see how much it will basically do for the reward.

Cant remember the specifics, but for some of the drugs basically a rat will push a small lever thousands of times to get a small dose of the drug. Sometimes the rat will even push the level continuously until it dies rather than press the lever for food or water (which would only need a 1-10 pushes, even with the drug requiring 1500 or something).

With this they can rank drugs on how much basically animals will endure to get the `reward`.

as with anything, moderation is the key.

too much of anything *can* kill you, not just classified drugs.

There was an article in New Scientist about 2 months ago which talked about a study done on over 1000 women who claimed to have been attacked (claimed, since some couldn't remember). They took blood tests from those women within 12 hours of the claimed assault, and it turned out that only 3% had things like GHB, Rohypnol or the like in their blood. Something horrific like 30% of women had consumed enough alcohol to put themselves unconcious for prolonged periods of time, and a further 25% has drunk enough to give them long memory black outs.

While I do not condone the use of drugs, lets not kid ourselves here people. Alcohol has, and always will be (short of legalisation of drugs), the worse record when it comes to assaults.

The majority of this forum is male. It's so much safer for us to drink ourselves stupid, because short of some predatory homosexual, if we pass out somewhere, nothing is going to happen (other than perhaps being robbed). For women it's a very different thing, but despite that a huge number of women put themselves in situations they shouldn't. I've a younger sister, and when I see the state some women put themselves in I'm damn glad my sister hardly drinks, because I'd never want my sister in the state you see some women in in large towns.

If people want to take drugs, the government is almost completely powerless to stop them. An estimated 4~7 million people a year take drugs, many of them things like cocaine or ecstasy. While some go down the deep dark path which leads to nowhere, I wouldn't be silly enough to brand all of them with 'OMG you use drugs?! Keep your needles away from me!" or "You use [ketamine/GHB/something], you are a rapist!" just like I'd hope non-drinkers don't think 'OMG you drink alcohol?! You're an alcoholic!!".

Remember, life isn't black and white.

Well said and put across :). Nothing worse than a woman completely trollied on alcohol tbh, its asking for trouble really. I try to stay away from the ones who drink too much, its not very nice and ladylike imho.

Crystal Meth is basically a drug that gives a huge rush and makes a person lose any sexual inhibitions.

It is a mix of what are esentially quite toxic chemicals such as methyl amine and amyl amine and the drug was initially popular in the gay scene in the US. Although rare in this country, half a gram can be bought for £25 or less and the hit can last from a couple of hours to most of the day or night.

It can be injected and also smoked in a pipe in it's crystal form, hence the name. It's side effects have been compared to base amphetamine.
