CS:GO Discussion

Cheers for the games last night, really enjoyed that 4 man come back on Mirage. Its clear I've got much work to do on my aim, recoil control, map call-outs but I think mostly its patience I need. Peeking at E stairs over to Palace got me killed maybe 4 times last night, have got to stop playing like its BF xD

3 quick questions if anyone knows :)

1. How do I jump on (I believe it's called) Xbox on Dust 2? I've seen people do it but I have tried several times with no luck. Same with the cart below apartments on Inferno. Is it a config thing?

2. I wanted to try a lower resolution (currently playing at 1080p) but can't figure out how to do it without black bars, do I have to change something in Nvidia settings and if so, where?

3. I am using a 60hz IPS monitor which I love but I am reading about how important 120hz monitors are for this game, may I ask why? Am I at a disadvantage?

1) Not a config thing, you can jump on it from double doors site exactly in the corner but its tricky, or just crouch jump from mid with a bit of a run up.

Same with inferno you just need to know where to jump as you look at it its on the left hand side (IRRC) need to crouch jump again.

2) you need to lower it to a resolution which is the same aspect ratio if you dont want black bars such as 720p?

3) a lot of people say 120hz is much smoother and if you play a 120tick server with 120fps + it helps with reg. But really I dont think it makes much difference till you get to a fairly high standard.

Nice games last night, bit annoyed we lost overpass Stus team carry was just too strong but fair effort from everyone on my team we did well.

If you want to play 4:3 Stretched you need to select that resolution in your amd/nvidia controlpanel and enable GPU up scaling and scale image to full panel size.

On your point 3:

Well imo everyone should go 120 or 144. Once you played on 120/144 I could never go back to 60.

Thanks! I didn't know about crouch jumping, I just tried it and it works :)

Are you guys playing on stretched resolutions, lowest possible or native?

I play at native 1080p(27in) because I like the way it looks and I prefer pretties to possibly increasing my k/d. I think a lot of pros play at 4:3 ratio as thats what they are used to for years.

Foilks Ive come back to CS after a LONG time.

What do I have to do to get into casual games?
Also what are these extra addons you can buy (I cant remember what it was called but its something like an "ALL PASS" and its in green) ?

Since i'm new to the game myself and enjoyed ****ing around with the configs etc etc and watching like every video available on the matter of becoming a ''PRO'' or just not to suck, I also tried playing on 4:3 stretched.

For me it didnt work out although I can understand why some players do it.
I switched back to native now though. I do set my settings to low to get a constant capped 200 fps which seemed to help a lot hitting **** wise.

Maybe it's just because things started to click after a lot of practice but actually managed to finish 1st on a server I played on where the players are actually proper quality. Maybe they just had an offday ;)

If you havent done yet lower your dpi on mouse to 400 and then ingame sens to where you can play. It helps with accuracy a lot.

You might want to check this : http://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/2ggkwt/csgo_optimiser_v_03b_patch_notes/

its quite handy to set up config and autoexec and startup commands.

Some good games last night! The castle MM was quite funny... i kind of felt bad

The Mirage come back was good! Glad we took that

Thanks for the info, I am also watching vids/reading guides to understand the game since I am really new to CS, been playing for only a month and GO is my first CS game.

I know that pretty much everyone is playing at 400dpi, but I have been using 1800dpi for as long as I can remember and it is kinda hard to make the switch. My in game sensitivity is low though, 0.8. I might switch things in the future, see how it goes because my aim is horrible atm lol :p

In game name is jETOCHI btw, been happily bottomfragging with you guys for a couple of days now, fun games!

What i did was go from 400 dpi and a ingame sens of 3 slowly down to an ingame sense of 2.25. This seems to be my sweetspot at the moment where you can still move around properly and be accurate for shots. Just need a big mouseamt and flick the mouse a bit more with some angles.

You should check out this new map de_Amsterdam it's great. Lots of boost spots, currently very boosted in the dampkring with my awesome skins. There are some interesting windows where you can get into different positions and tactically shoot into. The CT's seem to be very defensive and mainly hang around their spawn or the train station so you get free reign as T side. Great map, will spend tomorrow here as well

Just remember if you see anything move just smoke it off.
If in doubt remember you dont take any damage if you land in water.

Aw cute Kuno, if you want to know I'm actually I'm vondelpark with a nice cold white wine, bread, cheese and a fine assortment of er local produce.

So I heard, luckily in the 6 or so times I've been here I've never taken a dip and yes, smoke is always effective on this map

When I read your description I automatically thought the map is maybe a re-make but I was thinking of de_rotterdam from 1.6.
