At 7.20am on Friday morning Adam Mapleson was on his way to work in IT support. At Rayleigh railway station in Essex he saw a male and female security guard struggling with two men. He went to help the guards and was shot in the chest by one of the men. The robbers got away with the cash box. Security firm Loomis is offering a £25,000 reward for information leading to their capture.
I'm not sure if he was brave or daft as a brush...or both. The comments on the Register article seem to cover both angles too.

On a serious note, we don't have to play games to attempt a good deed. CS player or not, if he was a nice guy he would always have tried to help.

what a noob, no one just rushes in like that, he should have thrown a flash bang :D
If he had bought kevlar and helmet then maybe he wouldn't be in hospital. :D

He didn't help though. Companies have insurance... the guards wouldn't've been shot.. It is a tragic shame.

so is The Register some kind of Jack Thompson esque anti gaming thing? Or is that the minty aroma of Sarcasm...?
