When you're in a relationship (a serious one)
Which I am, I currently live with my GF, she moved in to my house.
people tend to SHARE finances, as in joint mortgage, joint bills, joint bank account etc.
Right?
With your attitude, you may well struggle to even get to the relationship part, given your obvious disdain for the fairer sex!
Well thats a load of tosh.

Just because I don't bend over backwards because my other half thinks she needs to be kept like a princess doesn't mean I have a disdain for women. I see allot of these "my wife has told me to sell the car so we can have an conservetory" and "my Girlfriend is demanding I buy her a brand new car in barbie pink" threads and every time I ask WTF, I get no reply. Its like these guys have got to keep there women and buy them anything they ask for for fear of loosing out there only chance of getting any. Admittedly very often its said tongue in cheek, but I cant for the life of me understand it and as such just think it comes across as a tad pathetic!

If my girlfriend asked me to buy her a car I might as a present to her if I was feeling on the wealthy side, as it is, she wouldn't, if she ever demanded anything like that, she would hit the pavement pretty sharpish. If she wants a car, she can go buy one herself!

Theres a fair few advertised for around 11 - only 10% more than his budget :)

Hmmm looking at completed auction only two have gone for 11 or less, and on none of those was the reserve met.

My 'bird' loves my CTR.....i've had turbo cars in the past but she likes this one more.

Why mock the guy for getting funds ready to buy a car? How many of you go to look at cars without having the funds ready?

He knows what his budget is and has sorted a loan ready....exactly what i did with mine.

I don't see the big fuss to be honest apart from the fact that the majority on here hate the CTR.

Whats with the rolleyes? she loves your CTR, bet she would want one for her self for day to day, CTR's are for enthusiasts, most people (ie non enthusiasts) like the look, but hate the ride and thrashyness of Vtec Yo.Which is why Turbo hatches are all the rage again.

Nobody is mocking him merely offering their opinion on what he's done.

Most people wont think 'I fancy a new car - lets take out a loan'

They will think 'I fancy a new car, I wonder what' then the research phase takes place, a few test drives perhaps, then they estimate their budget, shop around for loans if neccesary, then find the one they want then arrange finance.

Otherwise you are paying interest on money thats.. doing nothing

Everyone just seems to run straight down the finance shop these days. It's an unsustainable way of life and it will hit people sooner or later. The UK cannot go on buying its entire life on credit. Yes, there are many occasions when buying on credit makes sense and it can be an informed purchase but this thread strikes me as the opposite of an informed purchase.

This thread explains why the country is several trillion in debt.

And I dont get the please the girlfriend thing either or the sniping that occurs when someone dares to suggest its silly. Relationships are about give and take, not the girl stamping her feet until the guy simply does what she wants.
Word to that. If you need a loan to buy it you shouldn't be buying a CTR.

and i bet 90% of people commenting are Hypocrites......

In order to know that you'd have to know their motivation behind their opinion. I suspect most are against the loan first car choice later approach rather than chosing a car, looking at finances, then deciding best way to aquire said chosen car.

so you think everyone has the sort of money laying around to buy cars nowadays?

what a stupid statement.
No its not, hes pointing out that the guy cant buy the car on his own steam, he really shouldn't be getting a loan out and spending above his means on a sporty car.

It's not something I agree with necessarily, but its not a stupid statement.
