What is a performance car you would feel ok buying your girlfriend?

I'd say the fiesta ST. No VTEC, no turbo surge, no diffs to lock. Just something thats normal enough, with plenty of linear poke.
 
Wellllllll i think the CTR is a nice car, but you wouldn't drive it in the same style as the LCR.

Gambitt, why are you taking it so personally? You'll find all sorts of opinions on these forums and all you have to do is input your own.

errr i'm not so sure. As much as a like the Fez ST, its been described constantly as only being 90% finished. Apparently its very noisy on the motorway and hasn't got as much power as people would have wished.

That said, it corners very well.

A lot of Honda owners take torque/cheap interior jokes badly :p I have a dc2 and actually find them quite funny - and true ;p great cars fun to drive though.
 
I think any car, but maybe show her / explain the different power delivery clearly and how it can go wrong etc...

My gf drives the 205 gti daily at the moment and i've explained lift of oversteer etc..although it's only 100~bhp it can still catch you out very quickly!

The DC2s interior is utterly shocking though. Still, thats not why you buy the car is it :)

Well, it seems like it was built to keep weight down :p However, I dont find it too bad at all if you consider the type of car it is. The seats and steering wheel are nice as is the gearstick :) its just the huge single plastic piece dash that looks cheap. Theres far worse interiors in my opinion.
 
The dash and the stuff like the vent controls seem so dated. The gearstick, carbon surround and JDM cup holders are cool though :)

Lengthen the gears and it may actually go slower anyway.

Another thoroughly embarressing performance Gambitt, does your DC2 actually have a B18C? Although Im not sure where you got 210bhp from as a std figure.

Your not going to be in the market for a DC2 if you want heated seats and full leather, so in many respects how bad the dash is doesn't matter, the vast majority of these will be purchased by people who want an out and out fun to chuck around car.

I must admit i'm not too fond of the uk Civic not only is it a letdown vs the Jap version you can get other cars that offer the same performance + with loads more creature comforts.

Why some honda guys take this to heart i'll never know, its not like someone has stolen your girlfriend.

/Edit and yes more power = more top speed, provided you don't run out of gearing, my car now does 142mph (GPS) flat out and it still has 200rpm to go which it can't use since its not got enough power to overcome the drag, which it wouldn't do in factory trim.

well after all the good intentions of picking up the LCR today it didnt happen,


Car is sitting in the dealers yard taxed ready to go

reason why I chose not to get this fine piece of automotive goodness today?

Some local scrote decided to break into the recently returned octavia


chain of events
10am- get phone call from bodyshop saying octavia is being delivered this morning
11am Get phone call from dealer saying LCR is ready to be handed over(MOT/tax)
11:45 octavia delivered all freshly fixed/painted and all spick and span inside and out
12ish- go to bank to lift funds to pay for tax for the leon,
12:20 come out of bank to find OCtavia broken into glass everywhere and thousands of pounds worth of taxi radio equipment missing

spent the last 4 hours down the cop shop having it dusted for prints giving details of whats been taken,

good news is that since the car has recently been washed valeted they only found a handful or prints but more importantly they found a spec of blood on a fare chart and a footprint on a copy of Custom PC so good news is some chav scum should get collared for this, The annoying thing is the "datahead" they've taken is useless to anyone but me as its locked to my radio settings and car, (obviously mistook it for a satnav/telly i assume
quite dissapointed in the scene of crime boys, I wanted some funny angle photography taken of the car and the broken window maybe some pictures taken from inside the airvents or something and then the whole thing wrapped up for tea time with the scrote also being responsible for 3 murders and running an international arms smuggling operation but i guess Strathclyde police dont do that(alshouth SOC boys were first rate and decent guys and seem to have picked up plenty evidence)

Bottom line is that I am gutted as the poor leon wont be picked up now till tommorow But hey whats one more day :) expect a spec me a way to steal a LCR from my wife post soon

At least you are still picking it up, and at least they have a few leads to go on regarding your break in!

Nice. I get told to shut up by the mod but everyone else is allowed to keep slinging the mud. You weren't even here earlier, what has it got to do with you?

It's a 98 spec JDM DC2 engine with EK9 cams. That's where I got the figure from.

I was actually at work earlier, and then later I was still at work when I posted, at no point did i actually step inside my computer.
