Like Glaucaus said.

It's a safety trial. They're giving it to people with HIV to see if there are any side-effects or unforseen reactions between the drug and the HIV.

Uh yeah thanks for repeating that. I was just clarifying to Richie that they're not expecting the vaccine to cure already acquired HIV.

Just think how many other diseases could be cured if the government would stop wasting money and companies stop paying such gross salaries (footballers, wan..bankers, politicians)

The problem with mankind is mankind has turned its back on mankind.

Perhaps you could analyse how paying footballer less money would allow that money to filter into medicine for us? Anyway there are too many humans as it is, we can't save everyone :p.

Flesh and bone, that's all we are :D.

Sure....

Less money paid to footballers
Less money charged for tickets as less needed to pay footballers
People have more money in their pocket
People need to spend less on credit cards and interest
Less people default on credit cards
Less credit card companies lose money
Less public money paid to rescue banks
More money in the government to fund cancer research

The problem with mankind is stupidity. :p

What? :p

If it was cheaper to go to the game you think all of a sudden people will donate that money to science instead of spending it on some other luxury item? :D

No of course im not , what im saying is, financial institutions are either being backed up by public money (banks) or going into administration. If people werent spending so much on football tickets then they would have more money left in the pot , perhaps enabling them to not to use their credit card. Im not saying football is the cause of all the problems, what im saying is , its this gross amount of money paid to footballers, bankers etc that is stupid and could be spent on better things.

Why couldnt manchester united pay less and when they have millions left at the end of the year , donate some of it? Perhaps if everybody stuck together then life would be easier.

I wonder if you would joke about it if it was your wife, kids, mother, father, brother, sister etc etc being refused cancer drugs (which lots of people are atm)

ALL COMPANIES NEED TO TIGHTEN THEIR BELT AS WE ALL ARE AND AT THE END OF THE YEAR, IF THEY HAVE MILLIONS LEFT , I FEEL THEY HAVE A MORAL OBLIGATION TO TRY AND TACKLE CANCER AND OTHER ILNESSES THAT CAUSE PEOPLE SO MUCH AGONY.

However we live in a capitalist world so that is never going to happen on a large scale. It is also worth noting that without capitalism our current medical advancements would most probably not have been achieved.

P.S. Nice use of caps lock to get your point across, doesn't detract from your point at all.

No of course not? Or are you trying to say that everyone perceives random strangers with the same affection as their nearest and dearest?

Your attempt at a straw man will not serve to hide the fact that you tried to claim that premiership wages are directly linked to cancer deaths.

It just sickens me then you hear of people being refused cancer drugs when they have paid in the pot all their working life and then you see the smarmy idiots who are paid £200,000+ per week complaining when they have a photograph taken that they dont like. 3 things that are certain in life is being born, dying and paying tax, why cant they make it four certain things? Being born, Paying Tax on income, contributing £1 per person every week for a medical fund and then the fourth obviously dying? £64,000,000 per week solely on medical research is 3.3 billion a year.

Quote me a single post where i have said that premiership wages are directly linked to cancer deaths? I havent, im saying that too much money is spent/wasted on things, that in the grand scheme of things, dont matter!

I dont treat strangers with the same affection as loved ones but i would rather pay £1 per week and contribute to something that could eventually save a strangers life and not have to rot, being denied life saving drugs just because they are too expensive!

The world and governments should put life and health and prosperity and quality of life AHEAD of luxuries such as football. We are only here once and my children are going to face the worst quality of life in modern history , and its partly down to so much money being wasted.

That seems to be what you're implying here:

Just think how many other diseases could be cured if the government would stop wasting money and companies stop paying such gross salaries (footballers, wan..bankers, politicians)

And when you talk about things that don't matter, leisure matters a great deal to a lot of people.

Do you honestly believe that?

Out of curiosity, how much do you donate to charities? It's fine if you'd rather not share.

i think the problem is you don't understand supply and demand.

HIV if a cure was found would make the inventor a billionaire, but a pharmaceutical company could buy the rights and restrict how much they make so it costs a lot to buy making them billions.

politicians i can agree with, footballers and bankers on the other hand do deserve the money they are given.

I understand supply and demand perfectly. Do you honestly believe that bankers (who have caused most of this recession) deserve their obscene salaries? Do you honestly believe Rooney for instance deserves over a quarter of a million pound a week? That is just a smack in the face for people who work hard as a nurse or a surgeon or somebody whos job makes a real difference.

P.S I donate to a few charities, not lots of money but enough to help.
