Curious why the word 'the' get *'d out in posts?

My two kids don't even get marked down for it at school either, something that irritates me. Perhaps the OcUK forums are fighting the new generation.

There's lots of people about who just aren't very bright.

Not true at all, some people are very bright but not with grammer etc. Everyone has their own little areas of weakness.

If some is posting a valid point or a well thought out reply but they have grammer and spelling mistakes it does not bother me. Its those posts that have no intelligence behind them that gets me.

I think that some people do not have the intelligence to understand quite *what* it is they are saying. Like 'riding on his curtails' which I read the other day.

we don't put in swear words for a simple reason.

We have some level of hope that people can get by without swearing, and are also very aware of how easy it is to bypass swear filters, so unless we want to try and get every possible combination of swear word we rely on people using common sense and some discretion.

With regards to txt speak, we don't expect the people who try to use it on the forums to be able to grasp that it's not a great idea, and it's easier to filter (you can't really misspell it and still have it readable, not that it's exactly readable anyway).
Tbh I thought that would be the official response, however I have been suspended twice for sweaing, purely because every other forum I have been on has a swear filter, so I can rant on contently and if a sweary gets penned it will be filtered, whereas here I didn't expect there to be no swear filter and I got caught and suspended ;/ I don't doubt others have done the same as me.

Even now when I'm replying to a topic I have a passionate opinion about I sometimes will slip in a swear word and nearly posted it. Would be nice if you simply added the core swear words so people don't make mistakes. Then people that do circumvent the filter you can "nuke from orbit" as it is clearly deliberate.

The most prolific sin is 'loose' and 'lose'. Sadly, it really winds me up too. Why don't people get it?

You obviously have never been the the photography forum and noticed the number of people looking for a new lense.

No but there's plenty of people in the sports forum that want bigger mussells and want to loose weight.

Bigger mussels could help you lose weight, high protein and all that.

Bigger pies would give you loose weight though.

They need to make up their minds.

I've noticed a new trend of people putting an apostrophe on the end of a word in an attempt to pluralise it. For example, I have a large collection of DVD'

Retardedness :(

(that isn't a word but it ought to be ;))
