Custom Coolers?

not really hardcore but i butchered a shuttle ICE and a vantec cooler to make a silent heatpipe cooler for my graphics card to fit in a shuttle, but i didn't use it due to stopping the project

Is this place to bring up such detail...erm no don't think so! Also you go to court to decalire ya self such!

Anyway is it any of your info..nope! Did i ask you no i ask memebers *Oi no competitors!*

You can purchase a mini fridge from a competitors site, costs around £30, you could butcher something like that. Its supposed to cool 20-25 degrees below ambient.

Been tried many times before, and all have failed. A mini fridge is simply not powerfull enough, and is not designed to cool something that kicks out constant heat.

My unit is nearly done. i think gray will be posting pics if not i will and you'll see a mixture of phase and chiller cooling off the same unit!

Ive just seen it. Ive just got back from Gray's after dropping my v2000 off. Yours is looking good mate. Damn big compressor on the thing though.

It's not as pretty as I'd like it to be, but there's limits when you have to deal with chiller add-on's and all that. Little on the loud side but not terribly so, and the temps so far are working out well enough.

Just to come to Pete's defense :p and yes, I just got back from a 2 week stay in Canada. Sister's wedding and she actually invited me

Hey Messiah :) Yours won't be quite as big, or quite as loud either, but I'm sure it'll be just as pretty as you want it to be :D

Anyhow, back on topic, making a chiller or DD kit out of a minifridge can be done for the most part, but it's a good idea to get some advise on what to look for, and what's involved. Just putting a PC into a fridge, or making an air handler out of a fridge CAN be done, but you've got to be careful to get what's going to work, and going to give you your best results.

Oh, and keep in mind that's not 100% finished, there's a control unit to wire up and install, and a few more bits of 'finish' work on the pipes and such.

About -1 water temp with 150w load, and -35 cpu temp with the same 150w tester at the same time.

So a total of 300w load, about right for a fully oc'd system running full load on SLI and CPU.

I was secretly hoping for more, but that's about right for this kind of setup and the compressor I'm using.

It did cost a lot to get set up to build this kind of system, but I try to get the parts cheap as and when I can so I can put together systems for as little as I possibly can.

OK I'm done hijacking this thread, back to the regularly scheduled programming :D

Im sure others will agree; Your more than welcome to highjack threads like these. We could do with regular installments of 'Mole's Magic'. What liquid you running on that loop by the way? The system does look good, and im sure even 'only' -35 and -1 will produce great clocks. OT... You finished mine yet? :p
