I was using Google DNS, but decided to give OpenDNS a try. Was interested in the content filtering that they have to offer.

Still to early to judge on speed, but OpenDNS does seem to load a little quicker than Google DNS. Might just be placebo

What's everyone using?

Same as yourself, I had Google DNS for years until they had issues few weekends ago and moved over to OpenDNS.

Well primary is OpenDNS, secondary is Google.

I was going to try using OpenDNS or Google DNS but when I speed tested them using NameBench, my Virgin provided DNS servers were far quicker so I'll just leave it be.

I used to use google and prior to that openDNS but BT's own are quicker when testing with namebench and in practice.

edit - in keeping with the below, Pi-hole with BT's own DNS.

Pi-Hole and OpenDNS.

Contrary to sparkymark75 I found Virgin's DNS servers at the route of most of my internet problems when I used them, which is when I started looking at alternatives.

Every time I've changed ISP I've run namebench to see what works out the fastest.

I think I must be in a decent area for Virgin as I very rarely get outages and I get the speed I pay for. The only issue I seem to get is a slowdown at midnight each night for a minute or so. That'll all change when I move house in a couple of months and have to make do with ADSL :(

only ever used Open DNS. Only times I've had DNS issues is when i've used the ISP default ones but i don't think this happens so much these days?

I use Private Internet Access as my Primary DNS but the Secondary is Google, so far so good because before I was getting DNS issues.

pdnsd cache on a LAN machine, which uses regular ISP servers.

Seems the least bad option - very fast as it's local, and not beholden to any 3rd parties (Google etc.).
