As it says in the title

Is there anywhere that does insurance for a custom build PC in case something goes wrong with it at a later date with damages etc ?

I know i can get it in home insurance but just wanted to know if you can get it without. My PC is worth more than my car i just got rid of lol.

I'd be suprised tbh as there are many factors like has the user overclocked etc etc. I'd be very suprised if this did exist.

Back when I cared, my computer was explicitly declared on my insurance, component (cost) by component. Now I don't care, as it's covered anyway, I'll just have to argue.

Last time I needed to claim for a PC, I went to a local IT Maintenance firm who I happen to be friendly with and asked them to write up a report for insurance.

They said how much it would cost to replace with the same or close-as components, detailed a few of the more expensive bits and the insurance company coughed up with absolutely zero hassle.

How much did your premium go up?

Why don't you have home insurance? You should, and make sure your PC is covered under that. Can't see the benefits of covering it separately to be honest. As for the value, I imagine you would need to have that assessed at point of loss due to depreciation?

It cost you £2000, 6 months from now it will be worth what?.... £1500?

and twelve months from now it'll be worth £750, but nevertheless, in three years it will still be functional as opposed to a £1000 computer now which will be struggling.

Contents insurance would certainly be the logical choice. Most people only think of that single high value item they would miss, but what would you do if your house burnt down...It would likely costs 10's of thousands to replace everything in one go including toasters, clothing, carpets curtains etc.
