Custom PC Insurance

This is an issue I've been looking into myself recently. As far as I can tell, it will always be covered under your contents (some policies will want you to specify the item), but the company will always attempt to replace the item using its own suppliers first. For a friend of mine whose laptop was stolen from his home, this was in the form of vouchers at Argos! I am not sure how they deal with items that have no model or make (like all our custom build pcs) but I would imagine that you could always produce the receipts from your account with OCUK and then argue for it, perhaps with the aid of an expert third party as described above.

(also, first post, hello :))

It doesnt come close to 2k, its about £1,212.58

Software licenses would account for the rest if it was actually bought, although you could argue they'd be covered until contents insurance. I still don't understand why someone would ignore house insurance and want to insure a PC instead, the cost would surely be similar for each, insuring a house doesn't cost a huge amount of money over the course of a year!

I have my computers insurance with Abbey

All my PCs are custom builds, and I feel that pretty much everyone on this forum has a Custom PC to be serious, so yes, they can and will cover anything for the right price.

all 13 of mine are insured for £2000 a piece and of course not all PCs are worth that much I will accept but thats the policy I have.

You're thinking about insuring your pc before your home. I think you should reconsider your priorities.

Not necessarily... I live in a Nousing Association house, so teh house itself is covered by the association. I myself only need contents. Perhaps sas30uk is in a similar position?

Then again, my brother has insured his pool table, cases and cues for a lot more than the entire rest of his house and contents and he owns his own house, so maybe?

You have £26,000 worth of PC cover?!?!

Yeah cos thats cos I got a 256 Core AMD Pentium with a Terrabyte of RAM...

And 2 floppyDrives!!!

Seriously. Yes I do. I could explain but I have a problem of waffling on and taking the long way round when a simple YES will suffice.

And before you ask the next question, the answer is NO
