Custom PC Insurance

I have contents insurance. And seprate insurance for gadgets. Insured my rig for £1500 and its worth £500. But it's silly things that add up. I'm looking at £100 on 6 fans. Plus all the sleeving £100. They are the things you forget about!!!

£2000

And i dont have home insurance at the moment :/

And if you claim in a year or two it'll be worth £200!

Absolutely no point doing this IMO - if you're a home owner or rent then it will be covered (or you can specifically state it on your insurance) but if you're living at home then check the same details with your folks.

I have my computers insurance with Abbey

All my PCs are custom builds, and I feel that pretty much everyone on this forum has a Custom PC to be serious, so yes, they can and will cover anything for the right price.

all 13 of mine are insured for £2000 a piece and of course not all PCs are worth that much I will accept but thats the policy I have.

Not necessarily... I live in a Nousing Association house, so teh house itself is covered by the association. I myself only need contents. Perhaps sas30uk is in a similar position?

Then again, my brother has insured his pool table, cases and cues for a lot more than the entire rest of his house and contents and he owns his own house, so maybe?

im sorry... so you have 13 pc's worth 26k and you are living in housing association ?

Well, no I dont have 13 PCs.

I have 10 and 2 Ataris and a Mac

Seriously I seem to have some problem thats caused that.

What I have, is one PC right... I upgrade it, I get a new board & CPU for example.

But then I have a board & CPU spare, so I get a case for it, and end up building a second PC.

But this second PC isnt really powerful enough so I upgrade it and this time I go for a DDR2 setup.

Ah, but now I have another Mobo, CPU and some RAM spare, but my first one now could do wit ha new GFX card. So now Im left with a GFX card and now antoher board and CPU and RAM, so I knock that up into a PC, and now decide that PC 2 could do with a better case... Now I have an empty case and so... Well, you get the idea, but thats EXACTLY how I am.

I buy a case cos I like the look of it but I dotn need one, and then cos I have an empty case, I build it into a PC.

The most recent additions are my sodding daughter. she is 13 now and so she asked to have her PC in her bedroom. I think why not, but her case is the Asus Vento 3600 and its a bit big for her room, and so I decided to knock up a very cheap MATX PC, I only have a Celeron Matx and im not that spiteful to make her suffer a Celeron when her PC is a C2D and so, I bought her a nice cheap 2.2Ghz AM2 Setup.

Now she cant play games on her PC and so I have to buy her a GFX card, just a cheap one mind you... Just enough to play UT2K7 and her usual favourites, and in the end I have spet a couple of ton on her and her main PC is still in the LAN room as well as this one in her bedroom, but guess what? The boys are now jealous cos she has 2, so of course its up top fatty to splodge out and knock up another one for the boys but theyare argueing over that one and so I have to do a second one, and...

Well, thats how its gone.

Its not like they are all worth £2K cos they are not.... They are all more than capapble of playing crisis at 1024x768 thoughwhich is more than they need to because the games we play on the LAN are really only Motocross Madness 2 and the Quake / UT lot and hell, a well setup Pentium 2 is plenty for those.

Cripes Im a waffler.

My next question was 'Are you being honest here'.

Thanks for the clarification ;)

Oh ha ha... No, read the above...

I will provide photos if you want?

As I said its mostly all basic gear, only my main PC ( in Sig ) and my Server are decent, the rest are basic stuff and mostly built from second user parts i.e the MM.

yeah as mentioned if you stopped buy pc's or at least sold your old bits then you could move out of tax payers funded houses........

this country is screwed up!

seriously what is the point of having 10pc or 13 computers in total!

Few points I have to make here, but I find that extremely offensive.

Tax payers funded house?

How dare you?

I have paid rent in this house and never once have I scrounged off the system.

Get your facts right pal before you jump top conclusions.

I cannot get a mortgage but I still pay my way.

you said it was housing association before? that's part funded by the tax payer

as far as i know, housing associations are actually charities, ie not for profit organisations.
they are not funded in any way by tax payers (as far as i know)

edit, shouldn't have made that cup of tea during this post, ;)
