CV - BSc letters or not?

My business cards have BSc and MSc after my name. Nuts to anyone who thinks it's pretentious.

On business cards I think it is accpetable. I have a BSc and an MSc and I don't use those letters anywhere except on my business cards and that is mainly due to company policy which stated that we need to include any letters after our name on business cards. Which kind of makes sense, clients like that kind of cheese. People are fickle and in a situation where you are meeting new clients etc having a truck load of letters after your name can instill a sense of security in that they believe they have got someone who can deliver the goods, so as to speak.

TBH the letters mean sweet F.A, just becasue you have a load of qualifications does not mean you can automatically do a job in the real world. In fact I'd say for allt he studying crap i had to go through I have applied maybe if I am lucky about 1% of it into the real world jobs I have done and currently perform. Qualifications are only good for one thing, and thats getting your foot in the door. Once you are in you are on your own and your qualifications and letters don;t mean jack.

Bottom line.... EXPERIENCE IS KING...... qualifications are just a means to get you to the place to get the experience.

In my experience at work, the only people who advertise their PhD by using the 'Dr.' suffix on their staff directory listing are pedantic weirdy-beardies (you know the type).
