*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Bagged a 3090FE in the drop this week, and now also wondering if this game is worth dipping in to yet as I'm keen to test out Ray Tracing/ DLSS and the smart visuals.

Have the patches done good work, is it 'fixed' or is it still a mess?

Watch Dogs Legion is a good game to experience top notch Ray tracing visuals if you want to wait a bit on this.

Left my PC on overnight to download the 'patch'.

66% completed. I'm really starting to regret getting this on GOG, I wanted to be kinder towards CDPR but it may be the last time I bother if that's the quality they're offering from their delivery system.

It's not just on GOG, nor is it always on GOG. It happens on both GOG and Steam and it doesn't always happen on either. Like many things regarding Cyberpunk 2077, it's bugged and what causes the bug is unknown. But it's not caused by getting the game on GOG rather than Steam.

For example, here's someone on Steam who had a 65GB "patch" for 1.11: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1091500/discussions/0/3111392579693415799/

It's even easier for me to find an example of someone who has Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG and who hasn't had the "redownload the whole game to patch it" problem. Me. Not on any of the patches/hotfixes.

It's the game that's the problem, not the delivery system. So you're blaming the right company but for the wrong reason and getting it on Steam wouldn't solve the problem.

So is this game in a fit state to be played now or should I wait a bit more?

I was thinking of playing Valhalla before I get on to this.

It's better than it was at release, but not much. Due to the highly variable impact of the bugs from PC to PC, buying it is a gamble regarding whether or not it's in a fit state to be played. You might find that on your PC there's nothing more than some graphical glitches occasionally, probably more so towards the endgame. Or you might find that it's raddled with game-breaking bugs and crashes every 5 minutes. Or anything in between. It will probably be playable on your PC.

The numerous design flaws, lack of choices, terrible UI, missing content and lack of balance are exactly as they were at release. So if those are what caused you to wait, wait some more. Maybe forever because CDPR haven't announced any plans to address any of those things.

Getting sick of doing missions without killing people only to have an npc have a go at me for killing loads of people

You're probably just encountering yet another bug (there is, for example, a bug that causes non-fatal takedowns to be fatal), but it might be that you're moving people when they're downed. That kills them because reasons.

One of the best aspects of this game i found very good was romancing in particular with Judy. You can tell they put a lot of time and effort into it, the whole mission Pyramid Song really sings to you and keeps you engaged mixed with that unforgettable hum that Judy does. Really looking forward to more content being dropped, just hope it does!

Dunno if it is coincidence but started a female character and encountering way more bugs with the game - I've seen a lot more complaints from people playing female characters than male anecdotally.

Amongst other things the scanner wasn't working at all initially until I saved and reloaded the game and had it stop working 3 times in barely 30 minutes of playing with the new character.

It's not really the sexual relationship aspects per se. It's doing a good job of NPCs. I found the Judy story as good with Judy as a friend, which is much the same story. I think Judy was the best done NPC in the game. Maybe Jackie would have been if he hadn't died so early on.

I'd say that seems implausible (how could it be relevant?) but with Cyberpunk 2077 being in the state it is who knows?

Yeah I dunno just strange that I played through as a male character with hardly any bugs relatively speaking but started a female one and many of the issues people have complained about are coming thick and fast - I've noticed a lot of the time when people complain about bugs they either mention or show screenshots of playing a female character but it is possible just more people are playing with a female character than male.

Had it on XBOX One, returned it as it was too poor to play IMO. Got to mission 3 on the Corporate strand. Then returned to Amazon.

Picked up a copy for £22 from CD keys, downloaded through COG, Looks amazing on PC (Well my PC to me) But just cant get in to it.

Just played through the Arasaka ending again. Is there a particular reason why Johnny emphasises
"Remember what Jackie said? Hold on to it...for me!"
whilst berating you? Having played through all the endings, the one thing I've noticed is that they tend to contradict things that were established in previous conversations / decisions; as though the game makes no note whatsoever of the choices you make.

Very little in the endings, other than a degree of standing you have developed with Johnny, connects with what you've done in the rest of the game. One of the things which lets it down significantly given the genre.

They've obviously had a bunch of parts designed for another vision of the game and had to glue them together as best possible to get a, not the, game out the door.

Which is why I don't think we'll ever see the game it was hyped to be as they'll basically have to take it apart again and make another game. IMO it'll just be bug fixes and a bit of extra DLC while things like the lacking crafting mechanics, etc. remain largely as is.
