*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Performance seems all over the place for people - I ran ultra settings with ray tracing on and thanks to DLSS quality mode was mostly around 60 FPS though more like 56-57 or so generally. But people with faster GPUs were often seeing only like 40-45 FPS with the same settings/resolution!

There seems to be some kind of bug with the resource streaming or whatever as well which easily trips into an aggressive mode due to incorrectly seeing a low memory state or something (not really sure what is happening) where it swaps stuff out frequently causing a big performance drop even when you have spare RAM/VRAM which is odd.

I think in this instance my GPU is letting me down ( fine in every other game ), I've certainly got the CPU and Ram for it

I was going to come in here to ask for some tips as I've just started playing and not sure whether I have to stick with the main story - for now - and follow this big dude around - Jackie is it?

Does it matter if I just wonder off for a bit and come back later? Can I pick up jobs this early and come back to the main event later? Or should I wait until I'm past this initial teaching phase. Seems like quite a bit going on at once.

You should wait until you're past the de facto tutorial. You can wander off, but some things will be unavailable and key parts of the story will be missing and you'll be doing some things way out of the expected order and that might cause problems. CP2077 isn't the most robust game, even after all the patches. Once you complete the mission labelled "The Heist", it's fully open world. The game explicitly labels itself as different at that point - you move from Act 1 to Act 2. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the entire game up to that point is a de facto tutorial. I think it should be clearly labelled as such. I also think it should be skippable. The very long unskippable de facto tutorial is what stopped me doing a third playthrough with a different character (I was roleplaying, so it was a matter of different characters rather than different skills). It's somewhat offputting the first time. It's bloody tedious the second time. It's "nope" the third time.

Jackie is your best friend. Your only friend, really. You owe him your life, especially if you played Corpo or Nomad origin. If you want to know more about him [EDIT: this spoiler contains his complete storyline in the game], click on the spoiler:

He dies. It's scripted. It's also fairly bad storytelling in order to shoehorn his lengthy dying into the story in an unavoidable way, desperately shutting off any sensible plan the player could devise to prevent it, even going full deus ex machina in the most literal possible way while forcing the player into a non-interactive cutscene just in case a player might get creative. It would have been better to just have him instakilled. An unlucky bullet to the head. Life and death in Night City. A bit of advice - not long (ingame) after you start Act 2, phone Jackie. Yes, he's dead. No, he doesn't answer. But it's good storytelling. Also, phone his mother and visit her. Roleplay - you were her son's best friend. You lived in her house for a while. It would be appropriate for you to be at the remembrance ceremony she's organising. You meet his lover. It's good storytelling. If you handle it right, you get an excellent motorbike that's a great vehicle for the rest of the game - Jackie's mother decides that it would be right to give Jackie's customised bike to you.

@EddScott don't click the spoiler above if you care about the story of the game! it's really a massive spoiler even the first 2 words spoil everything

It's only a spoiler for the tutorial. Not for the main game. And I marked it as a spoiler. Although I could have described the spoiler more clearly, so I'll edit the description of the spoiler to make it clearer.

I was just worried they could click on it thinking it's a fairly innocent spoiler when it's kind of a massive deal to anyone who never watched all the trailers and hype videos

Has anyone else had the problem of dlss stop working after a few day? It worked initially then booted up one day and its gone. I mean I can select the options balanced, fast, whatever but none of them make any difference from dlss off i.e. abysmal fps. Turning off RT gets some decent framerates back but nothing makes any difference in the dlss settings. Baffling. Verifyed the game cache... yes. All present and correct. Nvidia didn't suddenly come out with a new driver and kill it in their old did they? Is it because I don't have GFE installed? I've no idea.

Ok well its working again bizaarely it appears to be something to do with Cyber Engine Tweaks - it stopped working after a crash so uninstalled it completely including removing all the files it generated, reinstalled it and dlss was working again - very strange.

n.b. also installed the latest driver and got a nice boost in fps so thats a bonus oh and they fixed the flickering white lines on the floors etc in corpo, that was driving me nuts!

I bought this on release. But only just got back into it.
I'm still on act 1. Starting the heist. I cannot remember really anything I've done previously.

Thinking about starting again, I need to redo the tutorial to refamilar use myself with fighting and hacking...but also feel like I'm still in a tutorial.

Witcher 3 sucked me in...this hasnt.

Looks nice though

So finished act 1. Kinda getting in to it. I'll be honest I've switched it to easy so I can just enjoy the game without too much of a challenge.

I've sunk 2-3 hours in today and that's what it needs in a session I feel with games like this....and I get that time maybe once a year lol.

Looks like we are gonna get some massive content updates one way or other, look what modders have been up to, ingame stock exchange, flying vehicles, AV vendors to name a few...

Vehicle Combat MOD has come to Cyberpunk 2077!
This mod makes it possible to use weapons while riding and reworks the police system.

Enemies in their respective faction area, Maelstrom in Northside, Valentinos in Heywood, etc., have a new ability that lets them call for backup. This was a cut ability called "Call Reinforcements", and has animations and decision making. A bar, similar to uploading a quickhack, will appear over their head so you can see how close the call is to being finished, as well as who is making the call. These can be interrupted by various effects, such as Sonic Shock, EMPs, Memory Wipe, and knocking the enemy over.

When an enemy finishes calling for backup, a star will be added to the system, and backup enemies will arrive. These backup enemies will be of their respective faction area. As V's stars increase, more difficult enemies arrive and in greater numbers.

These backup enemies now arrive in vehicles, and will chase the player.

Attacking cops and killing civilians no longer directly triggers stars. Although cops can call for backup in the districts with a larger police presence, like Downtown or North Oak.

At 4 stars, MaxTac will arrive instead of the respective faction of an area. The security turrets will enable as well. No further calls will be made once MaxTac has arrived. MaxTac will kill both the player, and anyone else unfortunate enough to be in the way. Militech instead of MaxTac arrives in the Badlands.

Massive improvements to MaxTac. In the base game, there is only one type of MaxTac enemy. This mod adds 5 others, including a Mantis enemy, Sniper, Shotgunner, Heavy, and Netrunner. In addition, MaxTac's stats have been increased and they have new abilities. What makes them particularly dangerous is they now have a special ability that allows them to rapidly regenerate health.

Many improvements to the spawning, AI, chase mechanics, and other aspects of these backup enemies.

Hmm, I spent an hour or so last night trying to get Cyber Tweaks to work but it won't. All looks to have downloaded OK but won't open with the ~ button.

In addition to the post above, the first time you run Cybertweaks it "should" ask you what key you'd like to use to open it as it doesn't automatically default to the ~ key. If it didn't ask you then uninstall/reinstall the mod (takes seconds) and try again.
